Sleepytots are rabbits that are very, very soft and have long silky ears which baby loves to stroke. He is just the right size for a "baby hug" and has strong velcro on his hands and feet where you attach up to 4 dummies enabling baby to grab Sleepytot and find his/her dummy easily. The velcro is attached in such a way so as not to scratch baby, but it is tough enough so that baby can't pull the velcro open and lose the dummy.
We have previously been brave enough to practice controlled crying with our then 8 month old son at bedtime and in a couple of nights he went off to sleep, on his own, within a short time of being put to bed. However, he woke at least four times during the night, albeit only for his dummy, but our sleep was disrupted nonetheless and often we were unable to nod back off again! We chose not to practice controlled crying during the night as the longer we left him to cry the more he woke up! He only needed a dummy and he would go back to sleep again. It was just unfortunate that his dummy could be at one end of his cotbed and he was at the other or worse still it had fallen through the bars, onto the floor where he had no way of retrieving it at all.
I learnt of Sleepytots through the Internet and ordered one straight away! It arrived 2 days after we ordered it and 2 nights after that my son was finding his Sleepytot in his cot so he doesn't need to cry for his dummy. (He was 10 months when we introduced Sleepytot).
I also anticipate that weaning my son off his dummy at some point in the future will be made easier by Sleepytot as he will still be able to have hugs from Sleepytot without the dummy being attached - hopefully making the transition a little easier for him.
You can also attach teethers to Sleepytots as well as dummies.
Seeing as Sleepytot has been a part of the family for a few weeks now, I feel confident enough in posting this review and feel that I want to share this excellent and unique product with fellow parents.
