Are antibiotics safe during pregnancy?
By Babyexpert.com on 05/06/2007 16:40:00
Q I'm 29 weeks pregnant and have been given an antibiotic called cefalexin by my doctor to treat what she thinks is a urine infection. IS it safe to take and will having a urine infection harm my baby?

GP Rob Hicks replies: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common in pregnancy since pregnancy hormones cause changes that make these infections more likely. It's important that a UTI is treated because if it's not, it may lead to a kidney infection
