Happy woman in bed

It’s week 8 of your pregnancy and amazing changes are taking place with you and your baby.

Your baby
She is prawn-shaped, with a big head and tail. Crack open the (non-alcoholic!) fizz - your baby is now a foetus, not an embryo, and is around 16mm long. She’s also starting to move around, but you won’t feel it yet. Take a look at how your growing baby is developing.

You
You feel unbelievably tired as your body is working overtime to grow your baby. Maybe you’re still feeling sick and could be constipated. Oh dear, life‘s not great at the moment, is it? But it’ll be worth it in the end, honest!

At this stage in your pregnancy, listen to your body and rest as much as you can. Here’s more about coping with pregnancy fatigue.

Don’t let exhaustion get in the way of your healthy eating intentions – the right foods will help your body cope better with the demands your baby is putting on it. Try this healthy eating plan.

It may seem counter-intuitive, but gentle exercise will also help with pregnancy tiredness. Find out about first trimester exercise here.
