She’s still laying down body fat, but all her systems are fully developed. Meconium, the greenish-black substance made up of waste material, has been building up in her intestines. She’ll pass this for a few days after she’s born - it’s like poo but without the smell. She measures around 47cm from top to toe.

Some forward planning now can make life easier when your baby’s born, but don’t overdo it - you’ll need lots of energy for labour. Stock up your freezer with wholesome meals to see you through those first few weeks, unpack your baby equipment so it’s ready when you need it. Make sure your partner has a list of people you want contacted once the baby is born, with up-to-date phone numbers and email addresses.
