It’s week 29 of your pregnancy. By now your baby is gaining weight at a rate of about 25g a day and you’ll probably have gained 20lbs in total.

Your baby
The soft bones of his skull expand with his brain, which now controls his breathing and body temperature. He's becoming more sensitive to light and he can taste the difference between sweet and sour. You should be able to count as many as 10 kicks in a morning. He's about 34cm long.

You
Extra weight is putting pressure on your already tired legs - you may wake up in the middle of the night with cramp and you could develop broken or varicose veins. Put your feet up and rest when you can. Avoid cramp by not crossing your legs and buy some support tights.

Rights and benefits
You can start your leave and pay this week provided you have given the right notice. If you do not want to start your leave at week 29 you can start it whenever you choose.
