Midwife Nikki replies: First, talk to your midwife and go on a hospital tour. One of the main ways this superbug is transmitted is through poor handwashing.
Hospitals have soap dispensers at sinks and disinfecting dispensers around wards, and many hospitals have taken up the ‘cleanyourhands' campaign, which encourages staff to wash their hands between patients - and patients to remind staff if they forget!
For further information on the campaign, visit www.npsa.nhs.uk/cleanyourhands.
Also make sure visitors wash their hands before handling your baby.
