Ok that doesnt sound too horrific although not at all pleasant.

How many weeks were you when you went in? Did it effect your labour in any way?

Sorry for all the questions, hope you dont mind.

Iron infusion

Hi Ladies

Has anyone had to go on a drip and have an iron infusion before? I have to go in tomorrow and have bloods done and have been told I will be going on a drip if levels are still too low.

Can anyone tell me what the side effects are and if it is safe to drive afterwards or give me any idea of how like it takes?

I am really nervous especially as last time I was on a drip it took 5 attempts to get the canular in

Dogs and new babies?

We too have a labradoodle. He is called Bear and absolutely massive so I did have a few worries. He does sleep in our room but is not aloud on any of the furniture so we are slightly different in that respect.

When we bought our DS home for the first time Bear came and said hello and then didnt really bother with him after that. He has never acted any differently towards us and never seemed to be jealous or anything like that.

DS is now 2 and he and the dog get on so well. They love playing together and Bear is so gentle with him.

The one thing we did do before baby arrived was train him to walk up or down the stairs after we had got to the top or bottom. Because he was so big we were worried about him accidently knocking us while carrying the baby. I also downloaded the sound of a baby crying and played it once or twice a week so he got used to the sound of that too.

Mucus plug ( TMI alert?!)

This does sound very similar to what mine looked like with my first pregnancy. Mine didnt come away until I wasactually in labour though. Started out as globs of white and then a HUGE glob of light brown colour.

I have heard that it can come away and grow back again though and isnt a sign of labour starting. Not sure what you were in hospital for but I am assuming that if you had steroid injections then baby threatened to come early???? might be worth a call to your midwife considering the circumstances.

Stretch marks...

Hi Gloria

1. Yes i do.
2. 1st pregnancy not until after my baby was born. 2nd pregnancy about 14 weeks.
3. Afew on my hips, some very small ones around my belly button (second pregnancy) and lots on my thighs.
4. As soon as i found out I was pregnant first time around i started applying olive oil to my tummy every evening. I did not apply to my hips or thighs and this is where my stretchmarks appeared after my son was born. Second pregnancy i didnt start using olive oil until i noticed the small stretchmarks around my belly button at 14 weeks. I now apply it every evening again and have no new ones.

Second plus timers, what can you tell first timers that they might not have been told?

I was surprised by the bleeding because I had heard lots of things about how bad it was etc etc but I barely had any blood loss at all. The first day was quite heavy but after that it was lighter than a normal period. I even got the midwife to look at a pad and check it was ok.

Another thing that surprised me was just how painful the first two weeks were. I didnt get afterpains but my parts bloody hurt. I dreaded going to the loo and I only had a small graze and was shocked that trousers were very uncomfy and irratated my downstairs.

Only 10 weeks till due date and nothing is ready.

Phew. It isa comfortto know that I amnot alone. Hubby keeps tellingmethat baby will not have anyidea whether their nursery is ready or not and will be happy so long as it is fed, warm, clean and has somewhere to sleep. I know he is right but still feel awful about it.
