Posted: 23/06/2011 at 13:36
Hi thanks for the replies. I took him to docs today adn he gave us Infant Gaviscon...he has had 2 bottles since I collected it from chemist...and he has not been sick!!

with the frist bottle, he wasnt sick atall, then after second one (around hour ago) he had a tiny bit of sick that went on his chin..nothing else..its amazing, he is so much happier too, he normally graumbled alot after a feed and wouldnt settle, now he seems satisfied and very settled after his feeds. long may it last!!xx

sicky baby/changing milk?

Posted: 22/06/2011 at 15:52
Hi please help!

My baby is 9 weeks old, and he is so sick all the time. He is my third, they were all sicky, but not like this.

He is on SMA (yellow) and firstly I wondered about putting him on hungry baby milk as one day I had to get him one of these cartons as we were out and that was the only SMA that the chemist had...he was not sick after this milk.

SO I wonder if it is made differently so it is staying down better? does anyone know?

Also, what do you thin about if I change his milk onto a different brand, woudl this help atall? or is it just the way he is? surely it cant be good for him to be sick this much.

Its not shooting out acriss the room or anything, just shoots out down his front, and tbh its really getting me down changin him so often, its a full change of clothes every time i feed him...i burp him, sit him up for about 20 mins after a feed, (what health visitor suggested) but this doesnt help.

Please help!!!

dummies!!!

Posted: 23/05/2011 at 17:55
hi

i have 3 children, 6yrs, almost 3yrs and 5 wks old.

my first didnt have a dummy but I used a bottle of milk to settle her, this was very hard work as she came to needing a bottle to get back to sleep.

second had a dummy, much easier, but he still had it til he was 2yrs...

third, i give him a dummy, but plan to take it away somehow before he is 1yr.

as for thumb sucking, it is easier to stop a dummy as you can take this away, much harder to break thumb sucking habit.

his dummy falls out alot when he is falling asleep, i just keep putting it back in...and it falls out once he is totally asleep and id leave it out.

my midwife said sucking action releases something in baby's brain which relaxes them, so i am a strong believer that a dummy is good for them. my first wouldnt take a dummy and was much harderto settle overall.

o/t 3yr old birthday party

Posted: 18/05/2011 at 08:33
hi, off topic, i know, but i need help! I have 4wk old baby and i am frantically trying to think what to do for my almost 3yr old boy's birthday in 2 weeks.

he isnt at nursery yet, and he only really has 2 friends. i also have a 6yr old girl, who i would allow to have a couple of friends with her if we had a party for her brother.

what do i do?? we were thinking just a wee thing with a couple friends/grans etc at the house...but where do we go from there?

he expects a party and thinks that when it is your birthday you get a party, as we have always given partys for his big sister's birthdays.

we just want to mark the occasion really and give him a little extra attention as he been havibg to get used to a new baby in the house.

anyone got any ideas what we coudl do with so little children?

where we live we aree not near any softplay areas and couldnt expect people to drive far to one for a party, so really it has be in our house.

PLEASE HELP!!

where do you put sterilised bottles and dummies?

Posted: 09/05/2011 at 16:21
Hi, we keep our sterilised bottles in the cupboard, and just use them as we need them. I reckon as llong as they are not opened then they are stil sterile inside. My midwife was hapy with us doing this. As for dummys, we only use one just now really as DS is only 3 weeks old, but once hes older and may have a few, i woudl prob put cap/lid that you get with them on them and keep them in cupboard too...but tbh id prob just sterilise and use straight away, or pour boiling water over it straight beofre giving to baby, as i wouldnt trust that it would still be sterile after sitting for a while.x

Help - how do you choose which formula?

Posted: 09/05/2011 at 16:12
hi i think it is just down to trial and error. i have 3 children, with my first i used SMA. I was clueless as it was my first baby, and some friends had used SMA with their babies, so I tried it with my DD and it went fine.

With my DS, 3 years later, I again started him on SMA as I just used what I was familiar with but he was very sicky , so i tried changing him onto Aptamil and he was fine and i kept him on this til he started cows milk.

With my new baby, who is 3weeks old,I have been giving him SMA again and he seems fine so far on this. I have found Aptamil is quite a lot more expensive than the others, which is why i tried back on SMA for my new baby. But if he gets sick with it, I wouldnt hesitate to move him onto Aptimal.

Bf to ff with tongue tie. Help please

Posted: 09/05/2011 at 15:59
hi, i havent read all the other responses so sorry if i am repeating anything..but my third baby (3weeks old) has a tongue tie, and i am bottle feeding him and have only ever bottle fed him.

when the doc came to check him over at hospital before we were discharged i asked if tied tongue would affect his feeding. The doc said that it only normally affects BF babies, as it is harder to get the hang of that in the first place, but as i was bottle feeding it shouldnt be a problem, and it never has been a problem.

Sorry i cant be of much more help, but basically, i think in general botte feedin gis supposed to be easier for babies to "learn" than BF, so i would just persist with trying diff bottles. Tommee Tippee closer to Nature are aparently closest matched to a real breast, i use these.

first period after baby?

Posted: 06/05/2011 at 13:44
hi my baby is almost 3 weeks old, and for the past few days my bleeding seemed to have eased off quite a bit to a very light period. but yesterday and today, each time i been to toilet there is loads of blood down toilet, and when i come out bath or shower it is running down my legs (sorry tmi), i am just wondering if this could be my first period as its got heavy again or whether it is too early. this is my third baby but i cant remember what is the norm!it isalso a little clotty (sorry again!)

i do feel a bit crampy and def feel a bit irritable but again, this culd just be normal with lack of sleep.

i am not BF so this woulnt affect periods.

can anyone help?
