How long will they let you labour?

Posted: 23/04/2013 at 12:45

Hi tulip, if you're on fb have a look for vbac support group uk. it is fab, full of knowledgable people who will give you great advice. at the end of the day it's your birth, your choice. medical professionals will try and scare you into doing it their way, but there is a wealth of information out there to help you make a better informed decision.

Good luck!

Birth Announcement!

Posted: 23/04/2013 at 12:26

It's a bit late but just to let you all know, our second beautiful boy arrived 1.20am on 1st April! He is called Liam and was 8lb 14.5oz at birth - but gaining quickly as he loves his mummy milk.

He had an exciting arrival into the world - had an unplanned homebirth on my hall floor by the front door, in front of hubby, a first responder and 2 paramedics! Midwife arrived half an hour too late. Was an amazing experience - my first birth ended in emcs, and i'd planned a vbac in water in hospital with this one - but he had other ideas. Was only in labour 1.5 hours, and hosp told me twice not to come in yet! The paramedics don't actually do anything except catch the baby, so i did it all by myself, and just feel such a sense of achievement!

He is just perfect, Ryan seems to like him, and i love having 2 little boys!

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Am I mad!?

Hehe, i'd blame hormones and give yourself a bit longer to think about it! There will be 18 months between our 2 when the little one arrives. I knew i would have more straight away, but it was tough being in early pregnancy with a 9 month old! Personally i'd wait at least until the new one is sleeping through so you at least get a good night's sleep, even if you are on the go with your 2 eldest all day. Each to their own though, and good luck whatever you decide! xxx

Non alcoholic fizz

I've never found it in my sainsburys, whereabouts is it? Becks Blue is nice if you fancy a beer, and i've just discovered alcohol free mixed fruit Kopperburg in ASDA, which is yum! xxx

Talkback: December revealed as the most fertile month

Posted: 12/12/2012 at 20:48

I may well have conceived on this date! Don't know exactly, due date was 8th but my little man arrived on 16th September. Never knew it was the most popular birth date!

i know its a way off but anyone worried about labour?

Posted: 05/12/2012 at 22:15

g/c - i had to have emcs with my first birth, but hoping for a vbac this time. Just wanted ti say though, it's not about them 'only letting you go 2 days over'. Your birth, your choice. Have you been through your birth notes with your mw to find out exactly what happened last time? xxx

Getting advice for having a natural labour and delivery.

Posted: 04/12/2012 at 15:16

I had a quick labour with just gas and air, was already 6 cm by the time i got in, then my waters broke and pain increased, but was manageable with the g&a. Although, after an hour of pushing my boy got stuck so ended up in emergency c section. This meant i had to have a spinal, and actually it was such a relief! They let me use the g&a when they were doing it so i didn't even feel it going in.

Good luck and hope it goes the way you plan, but don't forget, you don't get a medal for going without pain relief, so if you need it take it, the main thing is you end up with a little baby at the end, how you get there doesn't really matter in the big picture (although i am hoping for a VBAC this time again with as little pain relief as poss!)

Swimming

Yes, you can get Huggies Little Swimmers in smaller sizes, try your local big super market, i found them in Tesco but struggled anywhere else to find the small size, don't know why! We've been swimming since 8 weeks, and would have gone earlier if i was brave enough! xxx

Bleeding after Csection

Posted: 28/11/2012 at 22:02

Hiya, I had a c-section with my little boy, and bled for about 5 weeks. Hope that helps. If you are worried at any point though go back to your docs. Hope you're enjoying your new arrival! xxx

Smear test

I didn't have one after first baby as it hadn't been 3 years since my last. Assume I will be offered one after this baby. Oh the joy! xxx
