Hello you. I've been TTC (on the quiet not told anyone on FB etc) but nothing happening yet. It's been 6 months this time. We started TTC when Archie was 18months and i've had 2 mc since then.

If it doesn't happen this month we're going to put it on hold and buy a new house etc.

Good luck hun. x

ps - obv don't mention on FB, ta x

Finding It Tough...

Posted: 03/02/2011 at 08:15
I hear you my fellow Sept 08 ladies. And it is just confirming what I already knew deep down inside. it's a phase and this too will pass.

Archie has been the same. so demanding. So whiney. tantruming (his favourite move right now is throwing him face down on the floor in a public place!)Indecisive (mummy I want Balamory on, no I want Nina and neurons, no i want Cars...... )
refusing any evening meal (happy to eat breakkie, lunch and snacks)

It's not teeth cos he's got them all. And actually this is worse than when he was getting them, lol.

Hopefully we're all nearing the end of this particular phase, fingers crossed. S x

Won't even try his dinner - driving me mad!!

Hate to say it, but mine is the same.

He's been like this for a while. He's 27months now and has been like this for past 3 months.

Will happily eat breakfast and lunch and gets a lot of variety at each meal. But dinner is a different story. I'm of the mind where I want him to eat what we're eating. but he refuses to try spaghetti bolognaise or stir fry. But I keep trying.
We've tried really praising him when he even puts it near his mouth. Or refusing any kind of dessert etc. But nothing seems to work.
I'm possibly not as consistent as I need to be. If I think he's still hungry I often give in and give him a banana an hour later so he's not going to bed hungry.

All i can say is, your're not alone. And hopefully "this too will pass" (that's been my mantra for every phase we've gone through) S x

Edinburgh Royal Infirmary...also in Preg

No problem Laura.

North Berwick is lovely we often go for a day trip in the summer.

When I was pregnant I heard stories of people being diverted to St Johns too. But my midwife reassured me it never happened. That was 2 years ago. And none of my friends ever had an issue.

But if I'm going to be honest with you, it has happened recently to someone I know. She made it to St Johns and had a good experience there. Despite not having practiced the route and her partner getting lost numerous times.

But if it was me and they had told me to go to St Johns then I would have continued onto ERI. They won't turn you away when you arrive at the door in labour. If they examine you and think that you've got time to go to St Johns they can send you in an ambulance with medical support.
No chance of giving birth on your own on the M8 that way !

Hi there,

Thanks Fi for giving me a nudge and asking me to take a look at this post.

Yes I gave birth at ERI. It was a couple of years ago but I have plenty friends who have all given birth there and no horror stories from any of us.

My experience was all pretty good. I was induced. Don't remember having to take a lift there. But maybe I did becuase I seem to remember having to take a lift to get to the coffee shop and WH Smith (was advised to go for a walk)

Yes you can get mobile epidural. I asked for one and was going to get it but by the time anaesethist arrived I was too far along. Although a couple of my friends had it there and recommended it.

Yes there are birthing pools. There are only a few and you should mention your interest as soon as you get there. You'll only get one if it is free so they need to know you want it.
I have 2 friends had water births there, or laboured in pool and got out for delivery, and both enjoyed it.

Where in Edinburgh are you be living ? Sometimes depending on location St Johns hospital in Livingston is an option for delivery. they have a reasonably new maternity unit and there are lots of birthing pools there and I think they focus on quite a holistic approach rather than medical, if you know what I mean.

I had a good experience at ERI. I only stayed one night but could have stayed more, and wished I had. Although my friend stayed 4 nights purely to get help with feeding. So they are supportive. i preferred to go home and get home help for feeding but wish I had stayed. Its the only time a midwife is at the push of a button!

Happy to answer any more questions. Just let me know. Good luck. S x

Camping with baby and toddler

Posted: 27/01/2011 at 04:47
My husband has been trying to convince me that "we" would like to go camping. I'm pretty sure he would like it but not me so much!

Ready beds are a good idea for lo. Did you take an air mattress for adults too ? That makes it seem a litte more civilised but I'm still not convinced. x

Hooray!!

Well done Chloe. I've juts bought a potty training book as we're starting with Archie soon.

For some reason i'm quite scared of this next phase.

Also a bit broody just now but that's One Born Every Minute's fault. x

temp of 38.4 and wont take meds - advice please!!

Posted: 11/01/2011 at 04:20
Oh dear, hope he's OK ?

I can't help really as I have exactly the same issue with Archie in that he refuses to take the meds. It was slightly easier reverting back to a syringe rather than a spoon though.

Archie also always refuses to let us take his temp so it's even more frustrating. All that money on a digital thermoniter and he refuses to have it anywhere near him.

Good luck x
