Christmas

Posted: 12/08/2010 at 16:15
Have no idea what to get as lo seems to have it all already.
I have been putting ??5 a week away since last Xmas so hope that will help out this year. It is a system my nan has done for years for family members so thought I would try it this year, hoping I can afford to put more in next year.
Very very stuck for ideas for anyone and I have my parents 40th wedding anniversary in December arrgh!

Toddler diarrhoea?

Posted: 12/08/2010 at 15:30
Thank you for all the replies.
DD used to have lactose intollerance but was slowly reintroduced at the age of 1 and has been fine since then, not sure if it can come back.
Dr has told me to not alter her diet at the moment or we may not be able to work out if it is an intollerance or just a phase.
I have another appointment with my own Dr (hard to get in with her) a week tomorrow and she is normally very good with referrals etc so hoping to get any allergies looked into.
Poor little love her bum is raw today.

Potty training and going out

Just thought I would update and say it is true what they say - it clicks over night.
DD just suddenly got it, unfortunately she has diarrhoea so poo is not doing well but no fault of hers and she is trying.

Toddler diarrhoea?

Hi

Does anyone have any experience of toddler diarrhoea?
My DD is 3 and has had runny poo's for 5 weeks now (perfectly happy other than this) and we have been to dr's twice, the 1st time was a wasted visit and when she did not improve I took her again, the dr was helpful and she had to do a sample to be tested for bugs but it was clear. The dr also asked me to get the hv to keep a check on DD 's weight and height, I am unable to take her to the clinics as she is at nursery on the days it runs so I contacted the hv and after moaning that the dr could have done it she came out armed with baby scales and height chart that was too short, I then asked her if she would check again in 4/5 weeks and she told me to find some scales and check it that way or get the dr to!
There is still no improvement and some days she is going up to 10 times which has put a hault to potty training just as she got the hang of it arrgh!
The dr said if the test came back clear it was probably toddler diarrhoea which is unexplained and can go on for months, I am not happy with this answer and feel that they should maybe look into it further as she was lactose intollerant as a baby and the dietician did say she had a slightly higher chance of having other food allergies.
I have another appointment booked but wondered if I am over reacting?

Sorry for the ramble just hoping for someone who has been through this to guide me.

Help with 3 year old potty training

Posted: 08/07/2010 at 16:36
My god you could be describing me and my lo, I threaten the nappies and get screamed at and then I say to her are you going to wee in the potty tomorrow? and she says no in my knick knicks.
I did lose my patients the other day and it has done me no favours as she then did a poo and actually laughed at me while doing it!
She so knows how to push my buttons.
Everyone says it will just click and you don't see older children in nappies so they all get it sooner or later, I hope so!

Help with 3 year old potty training

Hi
Sorry I can't be much help but just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.
I know my lo can tell me when she needs the potty and can do it on there she just chooses not to, she will be 3 in August and is very quick to learn with most things, so I guess this is just one of the things that is going to take more time.
She used the potty yesterday morning and was really happy and excited and that was it for the rest of the day (so frustrating).
I am just going to persist with sticker chart ( she gets present for every 5 stickers). Unfortunately she has no routine to her toilet but if you can work out roughly when your lo goes you can try reminding her or just sitting her on the potty at that time.
Other than that I think loads of praise when they do it and plenty of patience.
Good luck x

Potty training and going out

Hi
Thanks for the replys. I have bought a potette travel potty and am pleased with it, lo is yet to use it but it is peace of mind and saves the mad dash to find a loo.
Also I lend it to my ex as he takes lo to soft play and they have no toddler toilet or potty in the changing room or mens (which he says is filthy anyway), they told him to use the ladies but obviously he is not comfortable with that so I lent him the potty and he can then go in the changing room with it.
I think that it has not been well thought through as a lot of men take their kids there and will have the same problem, it is a fairly new place aswell.
We have just had another sticker on the chart, yippee!!
Not doing too well as she gets very involved in wahtever she is doing and forgets to ask.

Potty training and going out

Hi

Have started potty training my lo who is 3 in August, I waited for her to show interest and things are starting to click now.
I am using pull ups which seem to be working for us but just wondered what everyone does when they are out.
Do you take a potty with you? and where would you use it? would you use it when in a shop for instance?
I asked in a shoe shop if my lo could use the toilet as she told me she needed it but they said no and I wondered how they would feel if I had a potty with me and let her use it there.

HELP!! Stroller recommendations (also in baby)

I have a 2 year old and we got the Zia and I love it!
For me the only downside is the handle height but as I am not that tall it is fine.
It folds well and I can push it and hold dd's hand when she wants to walk.
Got it as we were going on holiday and other pushcahir took up all the boot space unlike the Zia.

what should my expectations be?

Hi thanks for your reply to my question, we have actually taken some advise from others at our playgroup and halted all proceedings as she really has no interest in the potty apart from putting it on her head lol.
I will keep watching on here and would be interested to see how you go.
Good luck!!
