flat head syndrome

Posted: 18/11/2009 at 17:18
Hi
Noah has a flat head too, we had a very traumatic birth and Noah had a lot of injuries so he is under the care of a paediatric consultant and physio, who have all picked up on the flat head too, both have told us that it should remould by the time he is two. The consultant, who has been fantastic said not to consider a helmet, she said they was very expensive and don't really do much as his head will remould anyway. And since he is sitting up more his head does look better. Due to the trauma Noah went through we took him to a cranial osteopath for 8 weeks and I think this may of helped too, the oesteopath does work on flat heads, so maybe thats worth a try before spending so much money. I know a flat head isn't ideal, i've been worried too, but noah has scars from his birth and had suspected brain damage when born and i'm just grateful that hes healthy. Don't want you to think i'm preaching saying that i don't mean too, just that things could have been so much worse for Noah i'm just happy that hes only got a flat head.

Mon 2 Nov live webchat with Dr Miriam Stoppard

Posted: 02/11/2009 at 08:15
Hi I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this live web chat but it's about my baby's health, so here goes. Noah is 6 months and two weeks he weighs 21ibs, and has always been a hungry baby drininking between 28-32 per day (aptamil) over 4 feeds, he was weaned at 20 weeks, just fruit and veg until 6 months when I started to introduce more protein. At 6 months I introduced breakfast aswell as a dinner and tea that he's been having for a while, Noah began to take on average 27 oz per day. However since fri, Noah has been having about 15 oz per day, I'm struggling to get that down. He starts off hungry but after 2 oz he just won't take anymore. He's hardly eating his food aswell. I'm trying to give him little sips of water through the day. Since thursday he is having much more explosive nappies and offensive smelling wind, his nappies are bright yellow and stringy type poo. I've thought of loads of reasons why he's off his food, he doesn't have a temp, aptamil not off, tried different temps of milk. I'm worried it could be an ear infection, he does put his fingers in his ears but he started this weeks ago and usually does it when tired. Could it be teething? He's got no teeth but gum are White and he's biting hard. He's been being sick more than usual not always a lot but more than usual. Sorry this is such a long post. Hope you can give me some advice. Thanks claire x

Hi i'm in the same situation, Noah is now 6 months and weighs 20.6lbs, he is almost coming out of his maxi cosi. I also want to keep him rearward facing for as long as possible, so i am going to buy a Britax first class plus, it's from birth to 4 years and can be used rearward facing up to 13kg. They are cheapest on kiddicare. Claire x x x

Hiya everyone
I haven't been on here for a while, but just wanted to say thanks for all your kind messages, it means a lot.
I'm up and down at the moment, but my health visitor has been great. I'm dreading going back to work in a few weeks so that isn't helping things. I'm waiting for counselling, so hope that will help things. Hope everybody is good

Hi I was just coming on BE to explain to everyone who I'm friends with on face book where I have gone. I haven't erased anyone, I've deleted myself off facebook.
I'm having a few problems at the moment and was diagnosed with PND on fri, I'm going to see the dr on Monday for some help. I had some problems with my SIL reading my status and mis informing my MIL with certain info, causing many problems. Some may say don't post on there but if it's there I can't help myself. I find facebookcan be a right pain in the arse at time forcausing problems and just felt the need to take myself away from things.
I was going to get in contact with you Judith cos I wanted to answer some msg's u had sent me, I just haven't had chance yet cos had a bad few days. I will text u soon.
I don't want to take myself away from you BE girls though so hopefully will be on here more.
Hope all this makes sense. Awww and thanks for noticing I'd gone Judith, I didn't think anyone would miss me x x x

Hi
I started Noah on some baby rice last week, i just thought he was ready, esp since hes such a big boy. See this link to see a video of him eating his rice, it was only day 3 of him trying it and he clearly loves it. I just think this video is soo cute and wanted to share it with you all. I hope the link works. P.s can you believe Noah has his own blog at 4 months of age, his daddy is a bit of an IT geek so it was inevitable really.

Hi
I started Noah on baby rice one week ago, he seemed ready, he can drain 11oz, not always, but mainly take between 8-9oz. So i thought i'd try him with the rice and he loved it. As Lilmissaverage said, we have a video of him eating his rice and he loves it, i'll post a link. I've been unsure if i done the right thing, but he's such a big boy i knew i wouldn't be able to last until 6 months. I've got a gina ford weaning book which has an early weaning plan i've been following, its if you wean between 4-5 months. Noah has been full of a cold and lost his appetite, so ive stopped the rice for a few days as i want him to take his milk.
I find it hard as i'm a bit of a stickler for following rules, but i have to remember these are just guidelines and all babies are different,

It looks so cool! We have a chicco polly magic, it's from birth, which he's been great in. It's not the trendiest but it's been really practical. x
