Due soon - when and what do you recommend

I had a bit of 'special' time with my hubby and my waters broke half an hour later just as i was falling asleep so i don't know if it was just conincidence but i would definitley recommend this i was in my 39th week.

New Car seat = nightmare journeys

Our dd is getting better thankfully with me playing/talking to her the screams are half the volume and she seems to be happier generally, already not playing with her all the time so definite improvement.

Thanks for all the advice might look into the dvd player but she's not that interested in tv yet so not sure if we'll get one.

going it alone

Your hubby is entitled to paternity leave just like anyone else so would be able to leavye work and come back to be with you as soon as possible in the mean time is your mum or a close friend near by who could be with you till he arrives?

Children at the birth

I know someone who's child was around for the birth of their second as they had a home birth i think the key is having a dedicated person who can look after your three year old as they will obviously need feeding or putting to bed depending on the time of day. I know for my friend she has very fond memories of her oldest being able to meet her second child just minutes after he'd been born.

Swollen fingers and getting rings off

I would suggest using an ice pack on the finger as it will reduce the blood flow and as such the swelling will reduce and nake it eaiser to get off with washing uo liquid or vaseline.

New Car seat = nightmare journeys

Hey we have just put our 15 month dd into a forward facing car seat and now she is a nightmare in the car. She can be a bit of a screamer anyway if she's waiting for her dinner or can't get something she want's and now she's doing this in the car. It's a really high pitched wail and very distracting whilst trying to drive. We think it's because she can now see us and want's to get to us but can't so gets frustrated and shrieks, the problem is it's making even a 5 minute journey alost impossible.

We've been thinking that when she's quiet i read to her and play with her but as soon as she screams ignore her until she's quiet then play with her again (my other half drives i don't) so she learns she only gets attention when she's quiet then slowly reduce the amount i play with her and in the meantime my oh will wear ear plugs so it's not quite so loud in his ears and he can concentrate better on the road.

Has anyone else had this problem or any other ideas of how to solve it. She strats screaming the minute we're all in so we can't even to 1 minute trips and praise her loads for not screaming.

Backache at 29 weeks

Hey i got this with my last preganacy at around 31 weeks, i used a small towel rolled up behind the small of my back to give extra support and work provided a footrest which helped a little but the best thing i did was just take a walk every hour to the loo or kitchen which helped relieve the build up.

I hope something helps as i remember how horrible it was being stuck at my desk with that middle backache.

I have never had this happen to me but a friend of mine used to rub the persons stomach in return. It quickly got the point across that it's just not acceptable.

Am I being daft?

I would go many mums work full time with a 2 hour commute to work especially in south london and so aren't immediatley avaliable if something happens. Let the nursery know you'll be that far away but also the likelyhood of something happening is pretty slim so it'll probably all be fine.

Do you have any friends who could be an emergency contact just for that day? It could just put your mind at rest.

Nappies!!!!!!!

I use tesco and find that they are great, and much cheaper than pampers, my lo rarely gets nappy rash so that's a good sign that the tesco ones keep the moisture away, they are more bulky than the pampers new ones but i found the squishy bulkyness of the new pampers the minute she did even the smallest wee alot more off putting.

Is this normal?
