Questions for owners of the Baby Jogger City Select

Posted: 07/05/2011 at 07:08
There is no extra bit of chassis for the BJCS, just an adaptor to attach the seat to the chassis.
On the chassis there are three positions to attach seats to. If you're using it as a single, use the middle position. If you're using it as a double, use the top and bottom positions.

Unlike the P&T, both seats are exactly the same size so it doesn't matter who sits in which, where or when. Again, I'd heard things about the P&T seats being quite small for toddlers, and them not having so much headroom. My son is 27 mths and he has plenty of room in the BJCS seat.

The direct.gov website says photos must be taken within the past month. They also need certifying, and the person signing is stating that the pictures are a true likeness.

carseat adaptors, ??24.99
rain covers, ??19.99 each.

I got ours last November. We didn't bother with the carycot, baby just stayed in the MaxiCosi carseat. My elder child was 20 months when second arrived so we definitely needed him to still be in the pushchair.
He's now 27mths and he's still in the puschair most of the time. He can and does walk, but I can't trust him on busy pavements and so on so gets strapped in.

Each child is different, and some give up the pushchair earlier than others. What you could do is just buy the one seat, which will last until second child outgrows carseat or needs to move into it. Then see how it goes. You might get away with just a buggy board, or if it doesn't work you can get a second seat at a later date if needed.

I did heaps of research into prices, will have a look for the details.

any tips for my toddler-second baby due in 4 weeks!

Hey, I've not been on here for ages. How are you? Can't believe you're almost due already, it's gone so fast!

We bought Cameron a doll when Max was born. He enjoyed playing with it, giving it a bottle, dummy etc. Apparently, at nursery, he plays with the 'babies' a lot, too.

I was really worried about how he'd react. For 20 months he'd been centre of my world. To be honest, he took it much better than I'd expected. We had the occasional hint of jealousy, but mostly, it was kisses and cuddles from the word go.

I have the BJCS too and think it's brilliant.

Renee is right in that the toddler seat can only be rear-facing with the carrycot. My son would have hated that too so we didn't bother with the carrycot and our younger child just sat in the carseat. He was facing me, and our toddler faced front. Most of our outings are relatively short, or we stop for breaks so baby came out of the carseat regularly. Now he's 6 months, he's in the proper pushchair seat, facing me, and toddler is at the front, facing forward.

I've had loads of people approach me, asking about the pushchair, or just admiring it. One woman with a P&T came up to tell me my pushchair was so much better than hers

Hi Girls, I've not been around for ages! Max is now already 6 months old, and Cameron is a very grown up 25 months. Time is whizzing on by!!

Some of you might already know about The Nest. It's a chat forum for parents and parents-to-be. A happy, friendly, bitch-free place to ask questions, share ideas, or have a rant/moan whenever you need to.
It's moderated, so trolls and slanging matches are nipped in the bud.

If you've already visited The Nest and had problems accessing the site, we're very happy to announce we've now got a shiny new forum, on a new server, so we won't have those issues again.

I'm a vegetarian, my husband a confirmed meat-eater.

It was very important to me that my children are brought up as vegetarian so this was something we discussed as soon as we got to thinking about having a family. To be frank, if he'd refused to have vegetarian children, I wouldn't have married him!

I do the cooking at home, and there is no way I am going to handle meat or fish.

I work hard to make sure our children have a balanced, nutritious diet.

Should they later to decide to become meat-eaters, fine (well, not fine but I'll have to live with it), but for the mean time, I'm bringing them up with my 'religion' and beliefs.
