babyslings.....

The deaths were with the sling type carriers. Babaslings etc are still fine to use just be aware of your babies position make sure that their head is in alignment and no cloth is obstructing air flow around the baby. Plus be aware that in this weather if you're hot your baby will be too so don't overdress them- its not good to cook a baby in a sling!

Baby Slings ?

hiya- have tried 3 different carriers with my first and 2nd baby. Hated the baby bjorn style one, pulled on my shoulders. Hated the babasling, pulled on my neck aand shoulders- agony after 20 mins! LOVE the wilkinet, its a soft structured baby carrier which ties, VERY comfy can be used for newborns, has 4 different ways to carry until toddlerhood. It supports your baby in the right way and is easy to use once you get the hang of it and you're not covered in material.
Try going to a slingmeet to have a go with different ones

Anyone got 22 month age gap?

Posted: 16/06/2010 at 04:36
Hi I have! my new baby is 8 weeks old and i'm not going to lie it is hard. Sorry! However I try and involve my oldest wherever I can try to give lots of love and cuddles to her and keep up her old activities so she didn't feel her little world had stopped. So far so good.

The first few weeks were really tough but my husband was on pat leave and then I got my mum to stay for a week which helped alot. Still have rough days and there are times when my husband has come home to find everyone including myself crying, but this is getting rarer now.

I go out most mornings to the park or a toddler group while my baby is asleep then when I get home its lunch and toddlers sleep. During this time its cuddles for mum! In the afternoon then we play in the garden or inside. This little routine works well for us and our phil and teds buggy is a lifesaver. LOVE it.

Everyone does say that it gets easier the older they get and that having a close age gap is great in the future so I think its worth it.

Best of luck and you're not alone

FAO anyone with a phil and teds!!

I hang my changing bag over the handlebars but on one side of the buggy. My bag has a small handles that can be put together using a strap and press studs so i it from hang that bit so it goes along side of the buggy and not hitting my 3 week old in the head! Its harder than i thought to describe! Would defo get the panniers if this breaks though.

To Isofix or not to Isofix???

Posted: 19/03/2010 at 08:36
We didn't bother with the isofix base as only have one car which my husband mainly uses so it wouldn't be worth it. I catch the bus or walk everywhere. I think if you use a car alot with the little one then maybe get the isofix just for the ease of use. To be honest though it's really easy to strap the car seat in, less than a minute once you've got the knack and even if I had my own car I don't think I'd bother with one as it is dead easy.

reusing for 2nd bubs!?

You're not suipposed to reuse mattresses at all, aparently babies are more llikely to be at risk of cot death- not sure why though. I wouldn't reuse bottles or dummies as I think it wouldn't be hygienic at all and the ruber/ latex stuff would have degraded and wouldn't be safe anyway to be used. I'd definatly reuse sheets, clothes, toys, blankets and equipment such as bouncers.

I want my bed back!

We had this problem too but we decided enough was enough especially as number 2 is due on April.

Lucy (18 months) has always napped very well in her cot and has a good bedtime routine so slept for the first half of the night but by midnight ish would wake up and scream until we brought her into our bed.

We pretty much made her stay in her own cot- we tried controlled crying but that was horredus so we now pick her up after 10- 15 mins and give her a cuddle/ change her nappy and put her back. We also stroke her forehead if she doesn't settle which works. It was a nighmare for the first few nights but 3 weeks on it SO much better.

You and your husband just need to stick together, do the same thing every time with your lo, choose the right time to do it and follow through.
Good luck, I know how hard it is!
