Breast feeding doll (ala tiny tears)- your thoughts!

Posted: 15/09/2009 at 13:52
I too am pro BF and BF my son, however I have to agree with the majority of opinions and say that this doll makes me feel uncomfortable.
To me it seems wrong.
But everyone has their own opinion and if people think its a good idea then...

walkers?

Posted: 12/09/2009 at 14:00
my hv actually recommended a walker. she said as long as they are used properly then there is no harm in them. if you follow the guide lines and dont overuse them they are ok. lucas loved his. he is 11 months and looks like he will be taking steps any day now xx

Could anyone give me some advice please? x

My son is 11 months old and for a few months now he's been getting night terrors.

At first they weren't so bad, but recently it's out of control and I don't know how to help him.

He'll wake up halfway through the night screaming and when I go into his room I usually find him sitting up in his cot.

His eyes are open but not focused on anything, he can be looking straight at me but I know he can't see me.

I can pick him up but this makes it worse as he is arching his back to get away from me and screaming more.
Sometimes a cuddle will work, but sometimes I have to just leave him and sit with him until he calms down

I have tried everything, milk, juice, water, offering him food, turning the light on to try and help bring him out of it, taking him outside into the fresh air, taking him for a walk.

Its so bad I have had to have his travel cot in the living room now so that wherever I am, whether in bed or in the living room he can be with me, as it seems that after he has had one nightmare, if he goes to sleep in his own cot again he has another one later on that is even worse and even harder to bring him out of.

The longest one has lasted is about an hour.

Its heartbreaking watching him so scared and not being able to help him
Anyone got any more ideas or similar expeiriences?
thanks

Sorry but this made me chuckle lots and lots hehe. iv had this problem before too. i was giving lucas nappy free time yesterday and he pooed all over the floor whle i was making his tea and then proceeded to wipe it all over the sofa and my brand new laptop (recieved yesterday afternoon) and my tv and the speakers of my cd player. i was gone for 5 minutes!!!!!! i cleaned it as best i could while he was awake and after he had gone to bed poured bleach EVERYWHERE and nearly killed myself with the fumes pmsl. i had to open all the windows and evacuate the living room lol xx

I Can't Do This Anymore

Heya, i cant read all of the other replies because I cant stay online for long as I have to go out (sorry)

Firstly though you are an amazing mum trying to do the bet for your lo so dont ever forget that!!

Childcare
There are lots of ways to fund childcare hun (dont know if you have already tried and failed to find wys, so hope that Im not telling you what you already know xx)

I dont know how old you are, so I'm just going to write down ll te optiions for all ages that I know of

*Access to learning
This is for those who are under 20 at the end of the first september of the course
*i cant remember what it is called, but there is also one for those who are over 25 and the jobcentre has ifor on tht one
*student support fud - most colleges have a support fund where studets can apply for costs for childcare. you need to ask the college about this though
*jobcentre. if all other methods fail, you need to ask the jobcentre toset up a meeting for you so that you can put your case forward and ask them to pay for the childcare for you. in some circumstances they will do this and take the pressure off of you

hope this helps you and am sorry if it doesnt.

also, my email is stephanie_gemma@hotmail.co.uk if you ever need to talk, just remember tht you arent alone and that you are an amazing mum and htings wont always seem so dark for you.

big hugs xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Parents needed !! need tips!

1. How old is your baby and what kinds of toys does he/she like to play with? (e.g. Puzzle, Stacking, etc)
11 months. He likes to play with crisp packets, pots and spoons that he can banng and make noise. inflatable ball that we throw around. he also has bells, drums and lots of musical instruments.

2. What should a toy have and not have?
No small bits, no sharp bits, nothing that can easily break and hurt them. Should have lots of different textures, squashy bits to squeeze, parts that can be chewed / sucked. Noisy bts, ie crinkle paper inside it

3. What kind of materials would be safe and non toxic?
Anything soft, there are some plastics that arent safe for babies, but i cant remember what they are called, if you look o google you can find the name of ths

4. What do you think is the best toy for babies?
When lucas was 3 months he loved anything that made noise. lke bells and things. his favourite was a teddy that had a squeaker in one paw, bell i the other, crinkle paper in another and a rattle in the other. then had patches with different textures, like velvet and rough stuff etc

5. What colours/colors are best for babies? (rainbow, red, orange, green, etc)
Anything that contrasts damatically, research shows that black and white is best
6. What is the most important factor... (Social skills, hand cordination, sharing skills, gripping skills, etc)
For a 3 month old, i guess that sharing skills arent so important, but a bt of all the rest

Thank you!

Hope your project goes well xxx
