25.5wk old baby still wakes 2-3times for milk

Posted: 08/02/2011 at 04:21
I'm afraid I can't help as much as shout ME TOO!!! Henry is 27ish weeks, 22lbs and length wise has had to go into 12-18 month babygros. He eats three meals a day plus snacks and 7oz of milk at bedtime which makes 20ish oz per day, and not only am I unable to drop the (7oz) dream feed he still wakes up for food at 4-5am! I have tried putting the dummy in repeatedly and giving him water instead but he won't have it.

bugaboo bee plus anyone?

Also just wanted to add that I have never needed to purchase another stroller to use with the Cameleon, this time or last time.

bugaboo bee plus anyone?

Posted: 30/01/2011 at 16:55
Hi, having previously had a Bugaboo Cameleon and a Phil and Teds Vibe I purchased a Bugaboo Bee Plus in July this year for our second child (I sold the Cameleon because I thought we needed a double but didn't so sold the Vibe and bought a Bee Plus) and I do have mixed feeling on the pram - here are my pros and cons

Cons
- We needed to use it with a buggy board but the pram is very lightweight and the weight of my daughter who was two and a halfish used to tip the pram when she leaned, it definately would have gone right over in Boots once if I hadn't been holding on and she wasn't leaning a lot.

- Despite being made bigger that the older model it is quite small, my son is a big baby and his head would have been over the hood by the time he is one had I kept it.

- No or little suspension ,means its not great over grass, I don't mean off roading I mean walking across the park on hard grass in the summer - it felt very juddery.

- The footmuff is universal but it does feel as though you are just forcing the cameleon footmuff on and it hangs off the edge of the seat a lot.

- In parent facing mode there is no foot rest.

Pros

- One piece fold, its super light and it does fold very small

- Pushing through town is lovely and steering is fantastic

- The head support in the cocoon is great and the cocoon itself is actually quite roomy, its also very warm and in the summer you just zip the top off and baby stays nice and cool.

- Parent facing or baby can face out

- Storage basket - brilliant you can get lots in

- Raincover - miles better than the Cameleon raincover

All this said, I did end up selling the Bee and buying another Cameleon which I LOVE and can use safely with the buggy board. Apart from the one piece fold it has all of the pros but none of the cons for the Cameleon with the added bonus that its bigger, has suspension and in my opinion a much better pram. It even fits in the tiny boot of my Citroen C3!

Hope this helps, happy pram shopping!

Bugaboo Donkey - the new double...

That is a heck of a price. Am desperate to go and have a look at one just to satisfy the Bugaboo addict within me!

Martjin, do you need me to volounteer for pram testing?

Nursery- Is This Acceptable?

Posted: 15/01/2011 at 11:08
I this was my baby I would withdraw her and demand that this be investigated. None of the things you list are acceptable. The nursery sound lazy, incompetant and badly run. I wouldn't send her back either.

Changing bag

I have just bought change bag from the Boden spring range and its great, lots of pockets and really spacious - my favourite so far and I have been through quite a few!

Lin and Leo make really good change bags too - worth a look for more discreet colours and patterns

Happy Shopping!

Although its probably something she hadn't given a thought to, she had no right to be carrying her cigarettes and lighter around like that in that kind of environment. Was she sorry?

Knock knock, helloo?

Hello Rhian, nice to see you on here! BE is really quiet at the moment, I think there was a lot of bad feeling with the big changeover.

Neve's birthday was on the 4th but her actual party is this Saturday - I haven't been able to get away with a little one, so she is having 15 of her loudest friends to a bouncy castle party and I will be wearing earplugs and making sure there is plenty of wine in the fridge for when she finally goes to bed!

She started pre-school last week after having a trial session in November where I stayed with her and like you, because this is the first time she has been in this environment I worried about how she would be on her own. I shouldn't have - on the way there in the car I told her that I would be dropping her off and then coming to get her for lunch and she told me to just drop her off and have lunch on my own - charming! She loves it and I'm sure Daniel will too.

Clare a Belle is right, I think school would be a huge shock without the stepping stone that is pre school.

How to tell family member I don't want them looking after LO?

Posted: 10/01/2011 at 06:52
I think you need to get the grandparents on side for this. I cannot imagine that they are thrilled with a daughter in law who freely admits she cannot be arsed to work, so I am sure they will understand your reasoning. However three full days of childcare is a big commitment from a family member, so it may be that they will only do two in which case would you be happy to send lo off to nursery or a chilminder for the extra day?

A year is a long time and your sister in law could very easily have her own baby to look after by then, so I wouldn't think too much about it until a lot nearer the time.

Hope this helps
