Help!! 6 month old waking every half hour!!!

Posted: 04/01/2011 at 06:24
As you know Gem I am having similar probs with Alana. She is 7 months old now and slept through from 8wks until 19 wks when it all went backwards. We started night feeds again! After a few wks of night feeds and introducing solids things hadnt improved so we went cold turkey and cut the night feeds out again.
She wakes about 7-10 times when I go in and pop her dummy back in, sometimes she stays asleep other times she wakes within 10mins. More often than not at around 2-3am she wakes and takes up to 2 hours to re settle.
Iv tried going in b4 she properly wakes, replacing her dummy. Leaving her to cry, rocking her back to sleep, increasing her food and nothing seems to work.
She is still breastfed and I am now contemplating introducing formula for her bedtime feed to see if this settles her for the night.
I am at a loss and have no idea where to go next so would be interested to read any replies XX

Aw Nat, whatever happens it will work out. But as Junie says the only way to know for sure is to do another test. I also agree it could just be your pill that has messed things up XX

6 month update

Iv been following this thread with interest, its great to hear how our junies (babies and mummys) are coming on, I cant believe how fast the time is going!!

Well Alana is exactly 26wks today and 6mths on Friday!! As with most of you Iv had days where iv doubted myself and wondered if im cut out for this, even tho Alana is my 2nd baby there was a large age gap and her brother was a lot more content (it was lovely reading Nats posts as it sounds just like my first experience with ds, I loved it and he was so easy). We have had a few hurdles in the early days with breastfeeding (and I am so proud to say we are still going strong and will prob carry on now until she is 12mths) then reflux (which when it peaked at 12 wks was the most heartbreaking time for us as she had a few episodes where she choked on the acid and would struggle to breath, nothing coming out and nothing going in, just her litlle arms flapping about, it was very scary and upsetting) and 3 colds all within 6wks!! but I am hoping we have turned a corner now. I think Alana is just making us work for her as she has from the day we decided to try for her!! (I had to have a little help to get her as some of you may remember) and I think she has just been reminding us that the hardwork isnt over just becasue she has arrived LOL
Anyway Alana learned to roll at around 19wks but she ticked that off her list and has only done it about 3 times since (lol) and she has been sitting unaided for about a month now, she looks so pretty sat up like a proper little girl, she is getting better and better all the time and can sit for more than 10mins, she loves sitting up. We started slowly weaning a month ago too and she is trying a variety of fruit and veg now, we have just started to introduce dairy this wk and we are going to start meat in another week.
She adores her big bro and always has a smile or giggle for him, he only has to walk into the room and her face lights up, he is brilliant with her and loves her so much, it melts my heart watching them together. She makes the rest of us work very hard for smiles and giggles!! But we are guranteed a giggle when we shake a blanket over her and drop it on her and pull it off to play peekaboo, she loves it. She has also started saying "mama" much to her daddys diasppointment hehe
She has just gone in to 3-6 mths clothes and is 14lb. I was very lucky as she slept through from 8wks old but changed her mind at 20wks however since seaning and upping her food intake we are getting a few full nights again
I love her smile, her whole face lights up and her eyes sparkle and when look into her big blue eyes and she looks back at me with such love I know that she has been worth every moment of our journey so far, I love her so much and feel so lucky to have been blessed with both my babies and especially to be lucky enough to have one of each
