struggling

Posted: 01/07/2011 at 08:57
just to let you know, your not alone. i have a 27 month old and an 11 week old and am also struggling. you forget how dependant new babies are on you! i find carrying my littlest in a sling helps as i have hands free for toddler then, i seem to have it other way round to you, i have dream baby but difficult toddler. everyone keeps saying it gets easier though, so lets hope they are right! try to forget about loosing weight - your baby is only 5 weeks so you have plenty of time yet - although i too have been trying and also comfort eating! but trying to put it to back of my mind as i have enough other things to think about! anyway, no real advice, just wanted to let you know your not alone! keep your chin up xxxxx

any tips for newborn and toddler?

i have an 8 week old daughter and a 26 months old daughter and so far have found that DD2 is in no routine at all.

Iv kept DD1 in her routine as much as possible, and DD2 just seems to fit in around her. We try and get out for some activity each day as it keeps the eldest happy and busy. a sling is great for putting DD1 in so i have free hands. i've completeltly let the housework slip - but i guess i'll just get back on that sooner or later (more likely later!!)

DD1 loves her new baby sister, but doesnt quite understand she cant lay on her to cuddle her etc!! but she gets nappies / wipes for me (1 wipe for a wee, 2 for a poo!) she loves helping there. she sings to her if she is crying, its so sweet, and she'll tell me that "baby needs boobies"

its definatly worth the hard work, but just remember not to be too hard on yourself, forget about non essential things, accept for help when offered, and ask for help when its not ! xxxx

Breech baby at 35 weeks - any successful tips for turning him? Also in Labour

Posted: 15/06/2011 at 15:33
i had by baby manually turned at 39 weeks and was SO glad i did. i was really worried as id read it was awful, but it was hardly painful at all - uncomfortable is all it is. And you can ask them to stop at any time - but i went on to have a very easy 'normal' birth, and recover so much quicker than a c-sec. a friends baby was breach at 35 weeks and she had an hour long reflexology session and hers also turned. Hope it all goes well for you xxxxxxx

Nursery vouchers

I was just wondering if anyone knew how nursery vouchers worked for private nurseries / preschools? The school accepts the vouchers, and morning time for the pre-school is from 8.30 - 11.30, 5 days a week, which equates to my 15 free hours. It costs ??1025 per term - but i am assuming my vouchers wont cover all of that, even though it's just the 15 hours. Does anyone know? I'm going to phone tomorrow to find out - i just wondered if anyone here knew!

Potty Training

Posted: 18/05/2011 at 11:39
I've been following this thread closely as i really think my daughter is ready - but am struggling already! She is 2 years 2 months and is very good communicator. I have been letting her go around with no nappy on - she hasn't had any accidents, but she wont sit on the potty or toilet. When she wants to go she just asks for a nappy to go back on and gets upset if we dont so i end up putting one on her. The other day she was without nappy for 2 hours (!!!) without weeing, but by the end was clearly desperate to go just wouldn't sit on the potty. Should i persevere?? she obviously has the capability to stop herself from going and is able to hold it in and knows when she needs to go - its just the potty / toilet fear!

Should i keep going?? or wait a few more weeks?? any insight appreciated!

Any vegi mum's with non vegi partners........

I'm a veggie and my husband is a meat eater, but I cook - so normally my husband has meat in his sandwiches at lunch time - then at dinner he eats what i make! or sometimes wil add a bit of meat to it. I never pureed anything for my daughter, and she could just pick and choose what she wanted to eat. She hardly ate any meat until she was well over a year, and now she really loves chicken, and most types of fish, but that is about all. She however also loves tofu, and chickpeas! basically any type of protein! So, even though my daughter was young, she was still choosing what she wanted to eat - and when she's older she will also be free to change her mind!

Reuseable Nappies!

it also depends on what kind of nappy you are using and how you are drying them - we have no tumble dryer - and used bamboo nappies which have great absorbancy but take a long time to dry - so we had 20 which i would have to wash every day to get them dry again quick enough when my baby was newborn. but when she was a toddler it was easier as you dont need to change them as often xxxx

pregnancy tests- anyone help/advise please?

Posted: 23/03/2011 at 05:25
I also had a bit of brown spotting - both times - then found out I was pregnant after. As for pregnancy tests - i did 2 clear blue ones this time both said i was negative - i think took a poundland test (refusing to spend more money when i didn't even think i was pregnant!) and it came out positive.
Good luck xxxxxx
