Had the surreal experience of choosing our baby's date of birth today.....

Had our 20 week scan today - all appears well which was a huge relief. Sonographer confirmed a boy although the amount of time she spent looking i don't think i'd have been convinced if we hadn't already had the 16 week gender scan.

Saw the consultant as my two girls were delivered by caesarean and they have advised that this baby is delivered by caesarean also. I was hoping for a VBAC but not going to go against medical advice for one.

All felt a bit more real signing the consent forms etc and then the consultant asked us to choose the date we wanted. We have gone for the 11/08/11 as we thought it had a nice ring to it! Still feels really strange having found out so soon!

Thank you for your replies ladies. Glad i'm not the only one whose worrying about everying LOL!

How did your scan go MrsMP? My boy has been the same at scans - at both the sonographers got me to wiggle my hips to wake him up a bit. Must just be lazy boys! I'm sure the anterior placenta's are the reason we aren't feeling as much as everyone else! xx

Hi ladies,

I just wondered if any of you have had your 20 week scans yet & had confirmation of the gender? Ours is on Friday but a little part of me is starting to worry that we may have been told the wrong gender. Our sonographer was 100% sure of a boy, lit up the cord so we could see it was not that and reassured me that i could definately start buying blue but i'm still worrying! Of course the main concern is that the baby is healthy but i've really bonded with this baby since knowing the sex. Did anyone else use Babybond?

Hi i'm 27 and hubby is 37. I am a part-time medical secretary. We have been together for 10 years and married for 7 this year. We have two beautiful daughters who will be 6 and 3 when this baby arrives. We have a due date of 17th August but after two previous c sections, i am expecting to be told i have to have another and this will therefore bring us forward a week. At a private 16 week gender scan we were delighted at being told this baby is a little boy who will officially complete our family

Movement, or lack of it

Posted: 14/03/2011 at 11:38
I'm the same as you - an anterior placenta was picked up at my private scan and despite being my third, have felt no real movement so to speak. I've also given up with the doppler as i was getting stressed at not finding anything but the sonographer reassured me at the scan that the anterior placenta would be the reason why.

I too am stressed that something will go wrong & feel so much closer knowing it's my little boy in there & even had an awful dream at the weekend where i lost him! My sensible head though says that it is completely reasonable to not feel very much, if anything, with an anterior placenta & makes it much harder to pick up anything with the doppler. Try not to worry (easier said than done i know!) - we can stress about it together!
