Inverted Nipples

Posted: 08/08/2009 at 04:23
i had 1 flat 1 inverted and had a few problems when i first breastfed getting baby no 2 to latch on we persevered, but eventually the breastfeeding sorted the problem out and we then had no problems, they are now normal, and i gave up breastfeeding a few months ago. you cant use a nipplette in the last 3 months of pregnancy in case it brings on labour(stimulating the nipples is one of the tips to bring on labour if you are overdue!) and i dont think you can use it in early pregnancy either!! you are supposed to use it for 6 months before you conceive!!!(no use when you're 8 months gone like i was when i finally found one.) speak to your midwife if you are worried, i think to overcome the problem i had to tweak them before i latched lo on good luck

baby has "forgotton" how to take bottle

Posted: 08/08/2009 at 04:16
i'd try leaving it a couple of days as he may now associate the bottle with being upset, then try again in a couple of days, if not try a sippy cup instead, a friend of mine who breastfed her lo went straight from breast to sippy cup as he wouldnt take a bottle good luck

phone your midwife, she will have the best advice for you and should be there for you to speak to in the early weeks, if you can't get hold of her call the maternity ward and explain they will be sure to help or ask to speak to a breastfeeding advisor, they will be able to give ideas and advice good luck hope all goes well x

Drinking and breastfeeding

Posted: 08/08/2009 at 03:59
mixing formula and breastfeeds will affect your supply especially in the early weeks, i was told not to express til at least 6 weeks once your supply is established, it can be difficult to get a decent supply to get more to bottle feed for just a day as well, they say you shouldnt drink immediatley before you feed your baby, but the odd one is fine, good luck, i was going to express when i had ds2 but in the end found it easier not to as when baby is fed you need to feed him, then you would need to wait half an hour before you can express but if baby needs feeding sooner than usual(espec if demand feeding) there may not be as much as there should be cos you've expressed.(hope that makes sense) i spoke about expressing with my health visitor to let hubby feed him and she said there really is no real need to do this as it if you have feeding well established it can just mess it up. sorry to sound so negative!!! well good luck this weekend hope you dont have to wait too long!!

SIGN UP TO THE PARKING PETITION

Posted: 06/08/2009 at 09:49
i am signing up to the parking petition, i'm so sick of people parking in p&c spaces when they clearly have no children with them, its just plain lazy! glad to see that sainsburys have finally joined with asda in issuing fines to those parked there 'illegally'.

2nd time breastfeeding... easier?

Posted: 26/07/2009 at 09:28
i know this is an older post but wanted to reply, i couldnt bf my oldest son, despite trying for 10 weeks, but with my 2nd son now 9 1/2 months i bf for almost 6 months (only stopping as i needed to get a job) it was hard work to start off with but was so worth perservering, and found it a lot more convenient i travelled a lot lighter as i never had to remember to take bottles with me, never having to wash and sterilise bottles was great too!!! xx

I've lost my baby at 24 weeks

Posted: 18/07/2008 at 08:03
there really is not a lot anyone can say to make this any easier for you, i'm in tears writing this to you.all i can say is how sorry i am to hear that this awful thing has happened to you. you are very brave to come on here and write out your story it must have been very hard for you, i can't imagine what you must have been through, i had a risk of losing my baby at 24 weeks when i had to have surgery and just thinking about whether or not to go through with it with the risk that we could have lost him was bad enough, but i can't begin to think how you must be feeling now. my thoughts are with you and i really hope that if you decide to have another go that it all works out well for you. xxx

group b strep-anyone had it?

Posted: 15/07/2008 at 10:20
i've recently been in hospital and on the first of 3 stays it was found that i have group b strep, and i will have to have intravenous antibiotics for 4 hours before baby is born. this is my second pregnancy and i'm getting really anxious about labour now because of this and also the fact that i had to have surgery to remove a large cyst, ovary and fallopian tube at 24 weeks so i have a scar running from the middle of my bump under my belly button, and my midwife tells me i won't be allowed to labour naturally.
Has anyone else been diagnosed with group b strep? :\?
