Is your lo potty trained? If so, is this regression or normal?

Posted: 09/08/2012 at 21:33

Hi,

I'll be completely honest and say that she may not be ready. We tried with our daughter when she was 2 1/4 as she showed all the signs that she was ready, I bought the Gina Ford book too etc etc. she picked out knickers, potty etc. she wanted to do it so it seemed but after a while it became clear that maybe she wasn't ready after all. I spoke to our fab HV who advised us to stop and try again at another point.

So we left it about 6 months and tried again as again she showed all the signs she was ready. the same thing happened again and so we stopped again. this time we decided to wait until she was able to ask to do it and initiated it herself.

That didn't come until she was 3yrs 3mths and it was a breeze as she was totally ready, understood the whole concept and totally wanted to do it.

If it were me I would stop as you risk getting her scared of the whole thing but not everyone would agree with that. You've given it a really good crack, tried every trick in the book and sounds like things might be getting worse.

I know we all feel a certain amount of pressure to get it done but there really is no need - every child is different and it is better that they chose when it happens, some are ready earlier than others but there is no right or wrong xx

lol great minds think alike as was hoping you might see it!!! Glad to hear things improved, i've often thought of you and wondered how the boys and you were getting on now. Chloe's similar - she's still not wild about milk, though likes milky things?! doesn't like ice cream or cream - strange child!!! loves cheese and yoghurt though!.

things good here thanks, Chloe is a giant now and starts primary school in less than 2 mths now!!!! madness! I (and a lot of the others here) are on FB now as friends if you want to chat xx

buggy use and toddlers

Posted: 01/06/2012 at 21:47

my daughter walked late at 20mths but still didn't use a buggy really past 2 1/2 to 3. we last used it when she was 3 1/2 and we went to Disneyland Paris and it was so hot she needed to rest but also as we needed to contain her when travelling. Now at 4yrs 2 mths would never use it now but i would just go with the flow. it depends when they walk, where you are walking and how big they are. My daughter is very tall and built like a 6+ yr old!!! she wouldn't fit in a buggy even if I were to use one now!!! xx

I've just seen this at the side hun and had to say how so very sorry I am. i remember your posts when Owen was first diagnosed and all the trauma you had to go through then. I am so sorry that Owen is now an angel baby, i can't even begin to imagine what you have been through. I hope things ease with time and you decide what is right for your family xx

thanks for your reply windy miller - i remember your BFP post and so pleased for you.

I have had a look at that website and joined the forum. I'm trying to find a book to help with the diet side of things but also about generally controlling the symptoms. Any ideas or recommendations?

2nd hand pushchairs - not an advert, just curious

There's so many reasons for the variation - some cost a lot in the first place but then depreciate a lot, some really hold their value, some are very hard to come by 2nd hand, some are very new models, some are down to the seller being unrealistic lol!!! shop around, compare the prices in various places that sell 2nd hand, look at what you get etc etc. I would rather buy somewhere I could see it before buying but that may just be me. xx
