Flying...,

We took DD to Lanzarote when she was 6 months and I'd say it was an ideal age - she was more adaptable re sleeping arrangements and couldn't walk or crawl so we were safe around the pool in that respect. This year will be a different story! x

Any sucess stories after having a Hycosy or Lap and Dye Test?

Worked for us - we conceived a few days after my HSG (similar to Hycosy I think). That was after 18 months of nothing. Good luck x

When to start using a duvet / pillow

Posted: 13/12/2011 at 07:57
We started the transition at about 12 months (we needed to get her out of her cot at 17 months so the next one could have it!). First of all, we used her Grobag but added a pillow. Once she'd got the hang of that we swapped to a duvet and then once she'd got used to that we moved the whole package to her toddler bed x

shocked by routine!

This is a tricky one. A slightly different situation but when my DD was 4 - 12 months I took at least 2 (sometimes 4) flights a month (from Scotland down South). I've never forced a routine on her BUT she has always had a routine of her own creating (if that makes sense). I'd always try and book flights that meant she would have just woken up in the morning or could have a nap in the car in the journey to the airport but it didn't always work out like that. The result is that, sometimes by the time we were boarded she would be over-tired and well meaning people sitting next to us would try and entertain her, over stimulating her even more. I absolutely knew she needed to sleep and the only way I could get her to do this (her naps at home are always in her dark room, in her cot/bed) was to hold her to me, cover her face with her blanky (she slept like this too!) until she gave in and went to sleep. To everyone else though, it must have looked awful! So, it may well be the case that your friend's LO needs to sleep. I think if it were me though, and that was happening every time, I'd question what either of us were getting out of it as it just sounds pretty stressful for them both!

What do you think of the middle name...

Posted: 06/12/2011 at 08:54

When she was born we chose Matilda for her name and then May as her middle name. We love it, and everyone else has grown to as well! I like the fact there won't be loads of people with her name like there always were with mine!

Except us MrsP! I have a Matilda Mae. They don't have family significance but I think the length of the names work really well together

Any advice for a chesty cough?

Posted: 15/11/2011 at 09:32
I've heard of rubbing Vicks on their feet before they go to bed to ease the cough. Supposed to work a treat! Not sure whether you can do that from any age though? Hope he feels better soon x

Daytime naps

Posted: 11/11/2011 at 15:41
My son naps in his bouncer or his swing in the lounge in the day. My daughter did too until she was about five months which is when i started putting her in her cot for proper naps (they get a bit big then to sleep in many other places) x

Mummies with 2+...

liz - my DD (18 months) is exactly the same with the newborn things. She sits in his bouncer, plays with his toys and has started putting his dummy in her mouth (although she doesn't have one so has no idea what to do with it!). I have to say, I am finidng it pretty damn hard but I know that a big part of that is not having an family nearby. DS is also quite an unsettled baby (particularly from about 4pm). We suspect he has had colic v mildly (he goes to bed between 6 and 6.30 without any issues so I know it's nothing too severe). On top of that DD has been a bit poorly and was in hospital on Monday so it kind of feels like it's all happening at once. Am looking forward to DS being able to play with her a bit more - I feel a bit like I just move him around from bouncer to swing to playmat so that I can get things done!
