Say hello!

Hello, this version seems to run a lot faster than the old one too, which was my main bug bear with the old site, it was always 'freezing' or 'hanging'.

How close to your due date are you working?

Posted: 27/03/2012 at 08:09
You don't have to start your maternity leave until your due date, although if your baby arrives early it will obviously automatically start.

I will be nearly 36 weeks when I go off, taking 2 weeks holiday then 2 weeks mat before due date. (Although waiting to hear if will have c section at 39 weeks)

I too find it really annoying when people park in the parent and child spaces without a child with them.

It also frustrates me how there are often so many more disabled spaces (often many of which are empty) than parent and child spaces. Surely there must be hundreds more parents with yuong children than disabled people??

twin buggies help

Posted: 13/03/2012 at 08:57
I've got a baby jogger city mini twin which I've bought ready for my new arrival in May. It fits in the boot of my seat leon if that is any help, and my friend has one too, it fits in the boot of her fiesta. I think you can take the wheels off if needed.

I spent hours and hours researching double buggies and I think the baby jogger city mini does seem to get some of the best reviews. I didn't like the idea of a tandem as I felt sorry for one child not having much of a view. The city jogger is not too wide for a twin.

It is really light to push, easy to fold and I've been able to buy a carrycot attachment for it so the new baby can lie properly flat.

Sweep at 38 weeks - will it be successful?

Posted: 07/03/2012 at 07:32
I had a sweep on my due date last time but it did nothing other than cause lots of painful cramping, still had to be induced 10 days later. But I'm told they recommend several sweeps now before induction.

Buggy Advice

It really depends on what your child is like. I have a bugaboo single pushchair and my daughter will be 2 and a half when baby comes along. I was hoping to just attach a buggy board to the bugaboo for her but given her tendency to want to run off, I don't think this is going to be a practical option until she is at least 3! So I just bought a 2nd hand baby jogger city mini double for ??200 as I had read really good reviews of it, and it was recommended to me by a friend. I liked the fact it was easy to push and you could connect a carrycot to it. Then when the older one is old enough to be trusted outside of a pushchair on longer walks or in busy places I will go back to using the bugaboo again!

A lot of the decent double buggies seem to hold their value quite well, so I am hoping to sell the baby jogger on when I don't need it anymore.

im a nurse...when should i tell work??

Posted: 16/02/2012 at 08:16
i would say tell at least one person as I would imagine there is quite a lot of lifting and possible contact with hazardous substances in your job.

I only work in an office job but I told my manager both time at about 6-7 weeks, I just thought it made sense for someone to know in case I fainted or fell down the stairs or anything like that

Discomfort down below, sorry if tmi....

I probably should see a dr about this but am a bit embarrassed so thought I would seek some advice here first...

Over Xmas I had what I assumed was thrush as I was itchy down below, additional discharge and a bit of soreness. So I called my midwife in early Jan, she got the practice nurse to do me a prescription for a thrush pessary which I used and things seemed to get better.

then a couple of weeks later the symptoms returned so a couple of weeks ago I got another thrush pessary from the chemist and again things seemed to get better.

But now the symptoms seem to be back again. I am itching around there quite a lot on and off, getting through 2-3 pantliners a day, and experiencing quite a bit of pain during and after BD.

I know thrush can be common and difficult to get rid of during pregnancy but do you think I need to see a dr to rule out some kind of infection??? Has anyone had anything similar???

How long will baby sleep in your room?

Posted: 16/02/2012 at 07:57
We moved our little girl once she started sleeping through the night at 11 weeks. (She had already outgrown moses basket so was in a travel cot by the end of our bed, we then moved travel cot into her room for a couple of nights before putting her in her proper cot)

Don't know if it is anything to do with it but she is a really good sleeper now and settles really easily!

Planning to do same thing this time, keep them in with me as long as they are waking for a breast feed in the night, then off to their own room they go!!!

low placenta :(

Posted: 01/02/2012 at 04:31
I had this with my first daughter and it moved, although I ended up with a c section anyway in the end! Now I am pregnant again and I have got the same thing so going back for another scan.
I am hoping for an elective section this time to avoid going through the slightly scary situation of an emergency section, so hoping the placenta moves well away from my previous scar!
