sleep and 5 month old

Posted: 16/04/2011 at 15:59
My second son is 4 months and has slept through twice since birth and now wakes every 1-2 hrs in the night which is killing me!! In fairness he has been really poorly so that has thrownhim from 3 hrly feeds some 2 weeks ago so has your baby been poorly or coming down with something?
Perhaps weaning is causing tummy aches??!!
I in the past have done controlled crying once nappy checked, winded, fed etc as know if pick him up he'll stop after a bit then start on return to cot so we can end up doing tht for hours and so i leave him to cry for 10 mins at a time and go in and settle each time. He is fighting his sleep quite a lot. However as I know he is ill 9bad cold) I have been feeding him back to sleep and sometimes letting hm sleep in our bed and am panicking thatham making a rod for my own back.
Son 1 slept through at 5 months so I am knackered and can't see light at tthe end of the tunnel either!

Any successful, positive VBAC stories out there??????

me!!!
having had a crash section under general anaesthetic i had a vaginal birth this time round.
And......i was induced and had an epidural which statistically is against the odds
not much time to type but any questions?

C-section after 3 hours of pushing - pelvic floor gone - help!

Posted: 22/02/2011 at 07:41
I pushed for 15 mins with an epidural so prob couldn't feel damage was doing (episiotomy and internal tear)and was wetting myself for at least a week afterwards.
Now 9 weeks on i can feel my lady bits and although still a bit leaky i am 100 times better. make sure you do as many pelvic ex as possible as although it may urt it will help with haling,
you will recover i am sure and if not there are lots of things that can be done
i had a c section with 1st baby and i think the pain post natural birth was worse than c section
don't beat yourself up, you did so well so concentrate on recovery x

I had my VBAC!!!

I saw a consultant (never the same one) about three times and never saw my named one. Each condultant has a different opinion about inducing/going overdue etc as I found out near the end when was allowed an induction after previously been told no.
The NCT is a useful place to start. They have a good leaflet about VBAC which gives you some basic info. i looked at VBAC results at my hsop and they were good - 7/10 women will manage a natural birth after a c section (2 of those assisted)
Good luck x

argh fallen off wagon already. Was son's bday party and managed to eat healthily throughout and then wham ate most of his bday cake last night and today along with the leftovers!!!! Think had lost a few pound this week but now it's looking like that may not happen before weigh in!!
Managed to fit in an old dress but had to really breathe in and was quite tight.
Is hard when b feeding and only having a few hours sleep as you really do just want tasty/naughty food although having eaten healthy most of week I do feel much better gfor it.
i would like to start running again (was a keen jogger and managed a half marathon!) but just walking makes my bits ache. Anyone else's do the same?
Also feel like whole under carriage may fall out if did too!

i was right - another boy
most people thought would have a girl, purely as already had a boy (?) but i kind of knew i would have another boy and was just glad was healthy
so so glad we never found out although was tempting, was lovely to have suprise and something to tell people other than weight
i bet nobody ever regrets not finding out but i bet some do regret knowing beforehand...what do you think?

HI
Me too!!! Although after this pregnancy I now weigh 12 stone (3 weeks post baby) and last time 6 weeks post first son I weighed nearly 14 stone. I was about 10 st before this baby (12 last time) so have 2 to lose. In all honesty I hate my boobs which look horrid in tight tops as big, droopy and don't suit my tops (was about a small c cup before). Just seem there is no support in feeding bras and boobd round ankles! (not that I have those either)
Also...tummy is awful! I can breathe a lot in but the overhang is ridiculous. Before I was glad to have a flat tummy (even after c section) but now I can't see how it will ever go down and if it does where does all the skin go?!!!
Al living in one pair of size 18 (!!!) tracky bottoms and leggings and a big t shirt dress thing with Ugg boots. However, ok for pootling round house, cafes etc but not to see friends etc so feeling down about only having 2 outfits!!!

Have started weightwatchers (free as was gold member) which is naughty as not had 6 wks check but felt after excess of xmas needed to plan meals and start loosing weight. You get extra points when breastfeeding so is healthy.
Good luck all!
Aren't we hard on ourselves? Boo

Where does your baby sleep!?

Posted: 08/01/2011 at 16:01
in moses basket in our room from 11pm to morning and then in theory in moses basket in the nursery in day (hard to get him to do so)
having said that I am tempted to move him solely into nursery (in cot in moses bask) as the noises and whinging at night is making my nerves go on edge and I wonder if he would sleep better himislef. with son 1 I moved him at 6 weeks and honestly slept better myself. This all sounds very selfish but I don't want to get fraught like i did last time. I am a bit worried about cot death etc and all the advice to keep themin your room for 6mths.
hmm will give it a bit longer

how is everyone coping? Particularly 2nd time moms

How is everyone doing?
Hubby is back to work after weekend and I am in all honesty dreading him going back. Although I am lucky enough to be abl eto afford for my first child (3) to attend nursery several days a week there will obviously be some days when I have my newborn and a toddler and I have found it hard with 2 of us at home!!!!
I think the tiredness is worse when you have another child as you never really sit down and relas, even when bfeeding I am reading stories/doing a jigsaw or following son into kitchen with baby on breast to avoid accidents.
Nighttimes are hard as although baby is going every 3hrs he is taking anything from 15mins to 2hrs to settle and sleep by which time the next feed is due!!! Arghh. Also am very hormonal too and some days am really weepy which makes me feel guilty as we have two wonderful sons and I am losing temper easily with son no1 and this in turn is upsetting me. pointless post really just think I needed to vent.
Had post natal depression last time and really hoping it's not rearing its ugly head again x

I had my VBAC!!!

thanks
will try and answer the queries:

induced by the pessary method which i was suprised about as initially told wouldn't be allowed that but midwife on duty for induction checked and said was fine

the pressure on scar is only same as a vbac whether induced or not ( you will need to find own stats but they were happy and in fact suggested induction whereas initially my consultant said no to induction - depends - ask for second opinion

had to have waters broken, drip etc as although i was getting contractions every 4-5 mins ith pessary it wasn't enough to open cervix really so they wanted to be a bit more forceful. to be fair i had at keast 24 hrs with it in before intervention and i manged to let them leave me an hr before drip after waters broken

re monitoring - they are quite insistent on the monitoring although that was only really some time into the process. to be fair the baby's heart rate was dipping on each contraction so that was why. however, they can't force you to do anything. i did manage to stand and sit on ball whilst on monitor but trace/belts kept slipping whivch was annoying. in the end was upright and then on my side on bed although never flat on back. i don't think i could have coped so well without epidural

re: episiotomy - only felt once epidural wore off that night. won't lie as found it really painful down there for prob first 6-7 days and only relief was in bath but 3 wrrks on i am driving, able to get up and off floor for nappies, pick up toddler etc so more painful than section but only for a week when section pain/recovery is 6 wks +

any more questions? happy to answer x
