Reusable Nappies

Posted: 15/07/2011 at 14:30
I had a nappy guru come to my house and I looked at the different nappies. I also looked at the reviews on fill your pants online.

I brought tots bots all in ones during the day and my lo wears tots bots stretchies with a wrap at night. Cant fault them. Im currently using flushable liners as it makes it easier with teething poo.

They only -ve is there are limited unlimited designs. Love them and would recommend them.

Any questions, just ask l

Thanks snuggle for your reply, my BE email to say I ahd a msg went straight to junk mail. Can't see an invite on fb though. Tried searching october 2010 ladies but it comes up with the baby centre group being the only one relevant.

Would love to you all over there....

Bedtime?

Posted: 11/03/2011 at 19:15
Interesting reading this. I dont bath our lo every night, more like every other. However, after his afternoon nap he would take a quick nap between 6-7m before settling in his crip at 830-9pm. Today he didn't have a late nap and was happily bouncing in the door bounce at 645pm! I put him down at 7pm and we shall see how long he sleeps through for.

Would prefer for him to go to bed at 730 and awake at 730am as this would mean that hes not wanting a feed whilst my husband is getting ready for work. We shall see, I may have to tweek what he wants as a routine to fit into the family tmies!

Breastfeeders - how many feeds a day now?

Posted: 11/03/2011 at 19:10
Justa quick one as need to go to ebd.

Feeding in public
Never bothered with bf tops. I just wear a long 3/4 sleeve vneck top with a strappy top underneath. I pull up top, unclick bra strap and pull down spagetti top and put lo to breast. The pull top down over breast so no skin exposed. If Im somewhere where it is busier and I know people will see my nipple (lol) like in toddler groups. I have a muslin or a wide dressy scarf with me. I tie the cornors to my strappy top and then attach lo to my breast under the scarf so no-one can see anything! Once I did it once and reaslised it was actually really easy to eb discreet then I was happy to go out and about. I did have to feed lo once in a changing room in tescos which I hate doing as it usually smells! If your are worried, practice doing it at home. I find it more mebarassing when he is screaming for a feed and Im trying to be quick. I tend to time it that I feed him before we leave to go shopping, then feed him i the car park afterwards.

As for feeds, Im rubbish with ds at recording when he feeds, hes generally good at feeding every 4hrs, sometimes 3 or sometimes 5hrs depending when he sleeps. With dd I used to right it down, more relaxed this time round!
The other day he was up at 1am, 3am, 5am crying and I did offer him the rbeast but he didnt want it. He ended up asleep on me. At 6am when he usually wakes he didnt the most pathetic little burp and then feed really well, this was followed by a sticnky big teething poo! Felt a bit bad as think he must have woken with teething, so the gel sits near his crib now!

Is she feeding from both sides during teh day? Is she feeding from one side until it appears empty before feeding the other side? My cousins two children both feed little and often, always have done some babies are jsut like that.

Baby Group Nightmare

Posted: 11/03/2011 at 18:27
Ive never attend a baby group where there has been a speak. Maybe look online on netmums if you don't know of otehrs in your area. Give them a call and just ask waht the group is like how mnay go etc.

UIve been to a few both large and small and some people are more clicky than otehrs. Our local one has between about 15-20 people and I find it more friendly than the smaller group which is more clickly. I would say just try idfferent ones out and oyu will find one that you like.

As for your lo crying don;t worry about it, every one who is a mother has experienced a moment when there baby cries at a time when you prefer them not too. Sorry but I'm sure half the mums in that room were lying saying there babies are good as gold 24/7! I saw a mum at our local toddler group jsut ebfore Christmas who spent most of the time crying because he was suffering with bad reflux.

When I took our ds for the first time when he was awake, he just laid on the floor staring at everyone. nLike someone else said, there is lots of people and lots more noise to what they are used to at home so it will take a bit of time getting used to it. Its not because you havent done enough socialising, just a new enviornment for him. Please don;t let this group put you off. In adddition you sound as though yo9u may have been slightly tense/stree with your lo crying, people glaring at you, you lost your car keys, your lo slightly unsettled etc. Your lo would have picked up on this (there clever!) which may have made him more anxious knowing his mummy wasn't her usual calm self which could have made him cry more. If your not sure about going back there try other groups out.

Dirty nappy question

Posted: 08/03/2011 at 08:22
I was worried when my oldest went up to a week without a dirtu nappy.

Bf babies digest their milk alot fast than ff babies which is why they can go longer without a dirty nappy. Although from experience when they do its nt usually a small amount! They say about 7 days is ok for a bf baby not to do a dirty nappy.

car to fit 3 car seats?

Posted: 18/02/2011 at 08:38
We have a chevrolet tacuma, and its lovely and spacious. We currently have a car seat and a toddler read racing car seat and theres stil room in the middle seat. Ive just googled it and found a post by someone on mumsnet posted at the end of last year who said you can fit 3 car seats in the back....the older version is the daewoo tacuma. they do lose their price easily but it means you can get them for a bargain second hand. I dont think they make them anymore.

Ive copied some of her post below....
''Its got all the mod cons: air con, cd player, remote locking etc etc...but isn't quite as flashy as some newer cars - we were looking at the new shape renault scenic at first, but heard a lot of bad stuff about the electrics being dodgy and the electric handbrake is a common fault with a ??900 repair bill , so that put us right off!! I love newer cars, but don't like that nearly everything in them is electrical and it scares me a bit as is expensive to repair if/when it breaks!

We got an absolute bargain on ours: is 2005 reg, only 28k miles on the clock, full service history: ??2k!!!

There is room in the back for three car seat, really good sized boot and lots of hidden storage: under floor, draws under the drivers and passengers seats etc. However if you want space and practicality as a decent price, this is the car for you!!'

the tax is a bit more as its classed as an mpv, but our insurance is low

What is your smallest age gap?

Posted: 18/02/2011 at 08:17
I have also psoted this on the nest forum, but noticed not all of you are over there, so I hope you dont mind me asking this on LF on BE too.

Hubby and I would like more than 2 children if we are able to. I like the idea of having 2 close together. My sister and I are 16mths apart (I wasnt planned!!) and on the whole we got/get on really well. After having my dd I realised as a mother two young children in age must be hard work. When expecting our 2nd people said 2, 3 etc are easier, at first i didnt agreem then when ds was 2mths and things got into a routine i understood where people were coming from.

For some reason I have always thought 4-5 chldren would be nice. with this number in mind i think i would prefer 2 and 3 close together then a gap then 4 or even 5. Obviously I dont know what the furture holds but I hope you get where i am coming from.

So my queston is how close is your smallest age gap, was it planned and what is it like being mum to 2-3 young children?
