Urgent help please - when to worry about high temperature

Posted: 11/09/2009 at 15:03
Hi girls,
Haven't been here for a while but need some urgent advice. Bubs (16months) has been unwell for the last couple of days, really grouchy etc, no sniffles or anything. Today he has been really sleepy and have taken his temp lots of times and its been red on my themometre loads, the last time about 2mins ago it was 38.3. He hasn't got a rash and is ok with light just really sleepy which isn't like him, tried Calpol but its going up. Should i be worried??

Thanks girls xx

London childcare

Posted: 13/08/2009 at 13:13
A bit off the original question but i think its terrible that London childcare is so expensive (twice as much as some places) and that you don't get any help with working tax credits child care costs if you earn average money. We all know that you have to earn more cos its costs more to live in London than anywhere else but we get doubly penalised with child care, its a joke!!! I'm thinking of writing to my MP or something(? - might start a petition!) cos i feel that us london working mummies get a raw deal having to get public transport to and from work and getting hit by astronomical childcare costs just to keep the wheels of industry turning, its only just worth going back to work which is just crazy!!! Anyway, rant over unless anyones with my to lobby downing street!!!!! x

Car seats in the passenger seat

Posted: 24/02/2009 at 16:15
Hi,
I've got a ka with no passenger airbag same as you and Callum is always in the front with me. I prefer to keep an eye on him and there can be hell if he loses his dummy and he's in the back seat!!! I would agree about only doing this with a rear facing seat though

Are you due a smear? edited fao those under 25[/c

Posted: 17/02/2009 at 14:41
Hi Ladies,
like Louise+woowoo, i too have had several dodgy smear and have to have a colposcopy every 6mths (had one last week) Its absolutely fine and doesn't hurt (they usually ask you about your holidays!!!) You MUST keep on top of these though as its so easy to sort out if there is something wrong but obviously devestating if you leave it. Apparently 3/4 of women will have the HPV virus at some time in their lives, it can come and go but itself but can turn sinister but easily treated if caught. So please even if you are under 25, get one done, especially if you have been sexually active for a while x x x

What age is best to have a baby?

Posted: 14/02/2009 at 17:40
For me i wanted make sure i had done the things that i wanted to before i could spend time devoted to someone else if you know what i mean as i would worry that i would have resented having a child. I had Callum when i was 29 which for me was perfect and something clicked in me that it was the right thing to do. I had all the life experience i needed, good and bad but i can honestly say that i never feel jealous when i see people going out and stuff as i've done the clubbing the travelling etc and it now time to be a mummy. Also, i still have time to have another one!!! I do think that people have different priorities, a friend of mine has 3 kids and only ever wanted to be a mummy so she started young and is happy as larry now so that to me is the main thing, doing what makes you happy.

Thanks ccbmommy, i'll keep an eye on him.I think he's ok, he went to sleep soon after the last tumble but he was tired anyway so i think hes ok, he's a tougher cookie than me albeit rather clumsy!! its awful isn't it, they are desperate for independence and like you say, you can't follow them round with cushions forever!!! Thanks for the advice xx

Concussion??? Worried as he keeps bashing his head!!!

Hi girls,

What are you supposed to look for after babies bash their heads to check for serious injury. Poor little Callum is in the wars as he is learning to crawl/walk/stand and we have hard floors everywhere, its a nightmare and i'm watching him like a hawk but he's still falling over fairly regulalry quite hard ( twice today from sitting and a cut above his eye) i'm terrified he's going to give himself concussion or something.

I know your are supposed to keep an eye on them after they bash their heads but what am i looking for exactly? He usually does it when he's tired so should i let him sleep or not.....??

Enough stuff for you to be in for a few days like face wipes, shampoo and conditioner, i took some curl spray to put in my hair after washing it so even though i couldn't dry it, it didn't naturally dry all over the place so made me feel better for my visitors!!!. I took loads for the baby (which i didn't need) and forgot a lot of my stuff like not enough knickers and nightdresses and stuff and no slippers which were essential. Oh one tip for baby stuff, not sure if you've been given any idea how big your baby is but we bought new baby size stuff but actually although he wasn't tiny (7lb 4oz) , the stuff we had was massive of him so maybe buy a couple of tiny baby items just in case him/her is a bit dinky. Good luck x x

HELP!! Littlelamb Microfibre OR Bambino Mios??!

Posted: 12/02/2009 at 13:30
Stupid bloody site!!! already posted once - anyway, he goes again!!!

I tried babino mios and If you was my really honest opinion, i wouldn't waste your money on either - i know this is really un pc!!! Not sure if you have any other children but i found that when they are tiny you have to change them alot and i struggled to keep up with one baby let alone 2. I certainly wouldn't us them at night as they don't keep the baby dry at all and they will wake up more because they will be soaking, i was quite staggered by the difference. My plan was after i found it difficult at first, i was going to use them a bit later but by that time, and it wasn't very long, he'd grown out of the first size.

I would maybe suggest waiting a bit and getting into a routine first before trying maybe to give yourself a break. Sorry to be negative, just trying to be helpful!!! x

baby juice.

Posted: 11/02/2009 at 17:52
I think the juice they make for babies is so so sweet and so expensive!!!! I had real trouble getting Callum to drink fluid other than milk when he was younger so gave him diluted juice from 4mths as it says on the bottle (i used hipp organic). He's still not keen on water and won't drink much of it but i don't buy special juice any more just put a small amount of normal apple juice with filtered water at meal times which he really likes. So if you do want to give a bit of juice, i would save your money and make your own!!! x
