Hypno-birththing - please share your experience

Posted: 10/01/2011 at 15:00
My little boy is nearly 1 now, but i too had a hypno birth.

It was my 1st pregnancy & wanted to give birth at home, but unfortunately my labour was that fast the mw's were still out at another homebirth! I was having contractions from 5pm Saturday but still able to carry on with normal things (inc watching casualty, making tea etc). At 11.45pm the mw came to see how i was doing & examined me - i wasn't even dilating, but still in no pain. She left at 12:30am, my waters broke at 1am, i got in the bath at 1.30am til 2.15am. At this point i got quite a few strong (but controllable) contractions on after the other. I needed some pain relief, so dh rung the hosp for the mw to come bac to administer the gas/air. As she was at another birth i had to go to hospital. we got there at 2.55am & by this point i needed to poo or push (sorry for tmi!!)
The mw examined me at 3.05am & told me i was fully dilated (with no pain relief), at 3.37am my little boy was born.

I totally believe that hypnobirthing was the main reason i managed it without pain relief (although i did have the g&a for 10mins whilst pushing - mainly just to bite down on the mouth piece).
Plus i had no fear about giving birth, thanks to reading the book.

sleeping...sign of teething???

Posted: 17/12/2010 at 06:02
Hope you dont mind me posting on here (also in Baby), but no one seems to on BIF.

my little boy is 10.5 mth old & has been a bit off for the past couple of days now & i thought it was just teething but now im not so sure cos he's sleeping loads and i thought teething was meant to have the opposite effect!

His appetite is literally none exsistant (and has been for 3-4days), he's got a cough/cold and he had a temp of 38C last night. I gave him some Nurofen before bed and it did bring it down slightly. He went to bed at 6.30pm, which is normal for him but then he woke this morning at 6.50am with a high pitched squeal - normally he sings when he wakes up (and he has been waking at 8.30am the past few mornings, which isn't normal for him). I couldn't get him to calm down so i gave him some more nurofen at 7.10am and he was falling asleep on me (which he never does either). He slept until 8.30 and i managed to get him to take a few spoons of porridge and he took 3oz of milk, but then after being awake for 40min he started rubbing eyes again. I tried distracting him by getting him dressed, playing etc but he was just so tried & constantly rubbing his eyes/crying. He went down at 10am and is still asleep now.
I can see his 6th tooth coming through but he's never been like this when any of his other teeth have come through :?

Has anyone elses LO been like this?
Lisa

Forgot to mention he also slept from 2-5pm yesterday afternoon!!

For Those Who Were Team Yellow...

Posted: 29/10/2010 at 17:02
we were team yellow, but i right from the start i was convnced i was having a boy. i had:
no morning sickness,
started getting little hairs on my tummy,
a massive bump,
carried really low down,
no cravings, just ate a lot of weetabix,

Recommendations please - buggies you can push one handed

the m&p luna is easy to push one handed, but it isn't cheap.

back after ruptured ectopic

Katie, there's nothing that you could have done that would stopped it from happening. Im a strong believer that things happen for a reason and it obviously wasn't meant to be.
We'd booked a holiday abroad and i'd got tickets for Take That concert - i wouldn't have been able to have done either as i would have been 35wks pg. I try to look at it on the positive side now and think that my little baby knew how much i was looking forward to TT and decided to stick in the wrong place (sounds silly but it helps me accept it)
Your situation was exactly the same as mine - i too ignored the pain from Saturday and eventually couldn't take the pain anymore and my hubby rang an ambulance on the Thursday morning. The surgeon said to my hubby that he was extremely lucky to still have me. This all happened at the beginning of December and we started trying again in March, I got pregnant at the beginning of May. In the July i was due my hubby made a wooden box for me and we planted some flowers in it in memory of our liitle baby. Everytime i look out in the garden i see it and know our little baby is with us.
No-one will think bad of you for getting pg again, they'll understand and be happy for you. x

Christenings, Christmases and Birthdays!!!! ;D

Posted: 11/10/2010 at 16:37
Evan was christened when he 4mth old, so that's one less thing to organise.

As for christmas we've bought him a smart trike and some other bits of toys, clothes etc. Really looking forward to christmas this yr )
I've no idea what to do for his b'day - i know we want to have a party for him, but not sure where. Got him some toys for his b'day including the vtech discovery tree.
