Thank you all and goodbye

Posted: 10/01/2011 at 06:50
Just a quick post to say after all the problems arising from the merger with the rest of the Hearst digital network I have made the choice to ask for my account to removed completely.

Thank you to everyone for all your help over the last 4 years (even though my profile says the last 3  )

I'm sorry to be going, but I don't feel there is any other way.
I hope 2011 brings you all the happiness you deserve.
If you wish to keep in touch you can find me on FB or email of the users remaining on the site who has my email address.

Much love

Stephe

The only reason I got a response to my email was because it was CC'd to Watchdog as well (and openly for them to see it was too)

or BE could sell your information on to other interested parties (like their advertisers) who can send you junk emails, postal junk, and maybe even give on your details further since you have no agreement with the other party for them to 'break'.....

oh and anyone that sees your profile on the other sites sees all the info that is currently available on this one, such as your photo, your childs DOB/due date (which are still public on your profile hun)
so you can imagine the horror when they had changed it all to our real names, included our real DOBs and our kids DOBs, and even dragged up photos that had been deleted by ourselves a number of years ago! On YYW (and I think even one lady on here) peopls OHs names were even mentioned when they hadn't been put on the site so god knows where they're dragging this information up from!
All publicly visable for other members to see on sites we didn't register for.... not good enough when you check the box saying don't share my supposedly private details with ANYONE
xx

they've probably only got their lawyers in because people are stating to go to the media about it and because legally you need permission to use someones details to register them for something, which they clearly didnt have in this case.

Oh i likey! :D

yep, doesn't matter that other site have now got all your personal details and can use them to either spam you with stuff or sell them on (which given this fiasco I wouldn't put past BE selling them on to their advertisers so they can email you too!)
I mean that in a nice way, but I know words don;t convey meaning

I'm very dubious about all of this now - you're supposed to be asked to give permission for your details to be used ANYWHERE not just have them taken without permission. I didn't agree to that when I registered, in fact I made sure I checked the box saying do NOT share my details.....
It is a breach of privacy and protection, but my guess is they're relying on people not to be bothered about it like you MNN so they can get away with it.

xx

but do you like that you have been registered with the other sites in this network and that your details (if not anymore) may be/will have been shown on those sites too??

Your details have been passed on to other sites even if you haven't registered with them - they will show any/all the info that is in your profile on here, inc DOBs and pics of your children!

disgusted with BE

one thing syou might also be interested to know is not only is affeting everyone, but that they have also registered your details with the other sites in the network - hangbag, bazaar, comso etc etc etc, check the links at the bottom and go to my profile and you will see you have one for pretty much all of them bar a couple.
Your personal details have been visible on there as well as on BE.

when firing up the other laptop it shows me as being logged onto the others without that one being logged on anywhere...

even if it didn't people on there could still see your profile/profile pic/ DOB, children etc etc etc....

I still can't change anything and am getting no response to anything.
Even clicked on forgotten password twice and nothing!

Looks like they learn Feck all from YYW and decided to make things even worse!
