Thanks for taking the time to reply everyone, its amazing the different advice given by different HV's. Its like witchcraft!!

I was not given any leaflets just suggestions as to puree some vegetables.

I will do lots of reading before I even think about starting as I like to be properly informed.

Thanks so much for your ideas everyone

weaning at 20 weeks

Hi all
my health visitor suggested I start weaning at 20 weeks onwards as my DD is still waking 4 times a night for feeding, she is exclusively breast fed.

I was wondering if anyone else has done this and if so how did you do it? What did you feed LO and how did you get on?

Thanks for any advice

x

well hello ladies

wow its been ages and I clearly have so much to catch up on. How are you all doing? How are your babies getting on and how are you all finding motherhood?

Life has been a bit tough, as you know Ettie has terrible colic until 12 weeks, it was hell. Thankfully that has all gone now and she is just wonderful, giggly, happy and content. She is rolling and playing with toys and generally doing well.

On top of that I've been officially launching my new business (was at a networking meeting when Ettie was just 5 weeks!!)The website has been months of work, and its finally gone live in the past 2 weeks. So life is pretty hectic.

Anyway I have been thinking of you all, thank you for thinking of me.
Sorry to see Mrs.Setters is leaving us, don't know whats gone on but she has always been very supportive to me.

Love to you all, off to catch up on all your news

xx

I think I am struggling

I can't thank you all enough for being so lovely, offering such great advice and generally supporting me. It's amazing how many of you have been through something similar and its reassuring to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I've woken up today with new resolve to get out more with LO and to go with my instincts and stop worrying what anyone else is doing, or what books say I should be doing.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply, its why I love this site- such fantastic advice from genuinely very lovely people

What have you got that your baby sits in?

Posted: 03/06/2010 at 09:54
Hi hun

got the swinging chair yet?

We have a fisher price jungle one and Etienne hated it a few weeks ago, now she actually falls asleep in it ( yahhhoooo), and seems to love it.
Seems being a few eeks older now has made the swinging far nicer for her.

Hope it works

xx

Hold my hand gals.

Hi hun

if anyone can do this YOU can. You are so clear headed and sensible I am convinced you'll have this licked very soon indeed.

You always offer brilliant advice on BFing for us all and you are a fab mum because you stick at it whatever!

co sleeping.. your thoughts

Posted: 01/06/2010 at 07:31
In a desperate attempt to get LO to sleep, I have had her in bed with me. She is never covered and I remove the pillows. But I know there are risks with this.

Just wondering what your thoughts are?

ALSO how did you get your LO to settle in their cot? I don't want to do controlled crying, just not me, but anu other ideas?

Thank you

xx

Latching on!!!?? HELP?!! Crazy baby x

Posted: 31/05/2010 at 12:59
I have the exact same problem and my HV says its because the milk is flowing too fast. She suggested expressing a little first then putting baby on ..by then the milk flow has steadied a bit and won't drown little one in milk!
She said you can always give LO the expressed milk at the end of the feed if you are keen for them to have the foremilk too.

Hope that helps

Routine

Mrs Setters advice made me laugh during a very bleak day yesterday, and how right she is. The books have their place but we all have different babies and its their routine we should work to, not Ms fords or anyone elses.

I am going to do my best to chill about routine and go with what Ettie wants and needs.

Good luck hun
