Baby Constipated / Mom panic attack :(

Posted: 29/10/2011 at 07:38
I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience I've never had a panic attack so I can't imagine how frightening it must have been. Have you spoken to you hv about how you are feeling? Has it come out of the blue or have you felt this way for a while? Its important to keep a look out for pnd as its not too late for it to develop.

As for the change in routine I think its just one of those things and as a mum of a young child you have to go with the flow a bit. Everytime I think I've got Jason all figured out he goes and changes all over again!

I wonder what is causing his constipation? How is his diet? You could try a high fibre diet for a couple of weeks and see if that helps. If Jason is constipated I avoid eggs etc a bit and give him plenty of plums, sweet potatoes and dried apricots andvlits of water to wash it down and that does the trick. Baby massage is also really good for constipation. If you search on you tube there are some good demonstrations.

How much milk?

Having struggled all along with trying to get Jason to take more than a couple of oz at a time he has turned in to a milk guzzling monster lol! He has 6oz in the morning 6 oz in the evening 10oz before bed and about 5 or 6oz at around midnight! My hv says I need to cut out his afternoon and midnight bottles as he is eating plenty including cheese and yoghurt - although he's not so keen on yoghurt these days. He is a big boy so needs plenty but he's still a slim build, just tall so I'm not worried.

Juice drinks

I ocassionally put a drop of pure orange in his water. Only because he loves it so much and gives a big mmmmmm when he drinks it and laughs because he is so happy! I think its so cute! We rarely have it in the house and don't buy especially for so usually its water.

Big head measurement?

At 36 weeks my baby was so big they couldn't measure him anymore because the machine only goes up to 42 weeks lol! I was induced at 38 weeks and had a normal vaginal delivery. He was 9lbs 13 and we were both fine. Try not to worry.

white/yellowish sports on the face

My baby is mixed black and white and had this but is nothing to do with the race of the baby at all. Its called a variety of things from baby acne to milk spots and its just the baby's skin reactung and getting used to the elements. It should pass in time. 7 weeks is a little older than I've heard for it to be sticking around so if you are worried go back to your dr and have them check it out.

Routines @ 10 months

Jason is a really hungry baby and is very big so probably eats what an 18 month old does! (he's very slender though -I think he'll be like his daddy - tall and lanky). But he sleeps the best when he has eaten really well during the day. I moved dinner time up from 4.30 to 5.30 and introduced an afternooN and evening snack and he sleeps much better now. Its kind of like the evening cluster feeds when he was tiny!

Recommendations of nappies that don't frickin leak!!

Posted: 12/06/2011 at 14:38
I have used huggies, pampers, tescos, asda, sainsburys and boots nappies but the only ones that I have been satisfied with are lidls. And they are the cheapest. The are generously cut, very absorbant and have contained even the biggest wettest poos Jason has deposited. They don't smell of pee when he's had it on all night and they have a different cute cartoon on them in every bag I've bought which is irrelevant but cheers me up for some reason lol!

Biting,

Posted: 12/06/2011 at 05:22
My lo is more of a pincher than a biter! I have read that babies can start biting out of the blue when a new set of teeth are starting to come through so a wee dose of paracetamol now and again might help. You'd know then if it was teething causing it. When Jason nips or bites me he is usually tired or frustrated and I'm usually in a rush to get of the house! If he is carrying on like that I say "No!" in a very firm cross voice and put him down on the floor facing away from me. Then I give him his dummy and try again when he has calmed down. I am very firm with Jason already because its best to start and as you mean to carry on.

Routines @ 10 months

I'm back at work so I don't really have much input into his routine during the week. His naps seem to be all over the place in day care but as long as he eats well and is happy I dont mind. During the week he usually has a bottle around 4 am then up for breakfast at 6.30 and we leave the house at 7.15.

When he is at home with me he is up 6.30 -7 am for breakfast
Snack at 9.30
Nap at 10.00 - 12
Lunch at 12.15ish
Out or in playing
Snack at 3
Nap at 3.30
Dinner at 5.30
Snack at 7
Bottle, story and bed at 7.30.

He's been on some crazy growth spirt the last 2 weeks and has been having bottles at 10pm and 1am too. Zzzzzzz!!

really awkward situation

You should not have to leave your job because of sexual harassment. If your superior does not deal with the situation apropriately then go above her head. If there is no one above her you can contact industrial relations for advice and advocacy. What a sh!tty thing to go through!
