Xmas Catch up

Posted: 15/12/2011 at 14:50
Hi Ladies,

My goodness it has been a manic few weeks... my DD is soooo excited about Christmas although she is absolutely terrified of Father Christmas to a ridiculous level so we certainly don't force him on her- we've told her he'll leave her pressies in the kitchen! My DS is still not rolling- I am now putting this down to how clingy he is and what a Mummy's boy he is... if hes on the floor for too long he just screams and demands to be picked up! He hasn't cut any teeth yet but is showing all the signs but then so did my DD when she was this age and didn't cut her first tooth until she was nearly 1 so I must admit I take it a bit with a pinch of salt!!

So resolutions:
- Get my exam results tomorrrow and hopefully pass... argh!!
- Back to work 18th Jan- horrid- but only 3 days a week so not too bad. Just so so worried about my DS going to nursery- my DD has always been Miss independant so didn't phase her- my DS- another story entirely. Only a day and a half a week though and the Grannies share the rest!
- Try and sort our money out- feel like it's a constant battle at the moment and being on mat leave has certainly not helped.
- Keep on the fitness and healthy eating
- Lots of family time at weekends- we live right by the sea and New Forest- so lots of walks with the kids and hubby required- that wont cost any money!
- Make sure hubby and I get at least one meal out a month just the 2 of us... do love that time.

Merry Christmas ladies- really do have a wonderful time XXX

I'm stuck with weaning!

Mrs P,

My DD suffered with constipation from birth- ie. would go 6 or 7 days frequently without going and then be traumatised by the event when it occurred... she is still prone at age 3. A healthy diet is essential with even normal babies. She used to have cooked wizzed up apricots to help her go- used to do the trick! She still has to have All Bran mixed with weatabix for her breakfast to keep her going which is not ideal as they don't recommend too much fibre for children under 5 but for me I feel its much better than being on quite strong medication for the rest of her life which is the only other alternative.
However, my DS has been much more regular going every day when just on milk. Absolutely as KazzieM says they will have a big change in their stools once you start weaning- my DS is now munching happily on 3 meals a day... he has rice mixed with homemade wizzed apple or pear for breakfast and then for lunch and tea he has a combination of wizzed up veg from carrots to broccoli to sweet potatos to butternut squash, the list goes on. He now may go every day or every other and his stools are definitely firmer- to be expected really. I haven't found that hes having any bother getting them out though!!
As someone who knows what its like to have a truly constipated child I genuinely wouldn't worry if your bubba doesn't need to go every day any more.
Massive Good Luck X

Should I be worried??

Absolute rubbish! You have nothing to worry about- as Piggypops says they can't even compute what they are watching- they like the flashing lights! My DS will sit and look at the tele when its not even on- think hes trying to turn it on with his mind!! I can assure you baby tv or the news makes no odds X

It is a lovely thought but I do think you are right re the logistics... I am Bournemouth way- right on the south coast! No where near the midlands! X

Poor little bubba

It's rotten when theyre poorly- my DS was suffering loads at the change over into autumn... best thing I find when theyre full of it is a drop of olbas oil in a mug of boiling water up high in their bedroom- I also add a dash of milk to help stop it separating too much. Worked wonders and helps them breathe and clears there chessies- hope she feels better soon X

Christmas.....

You are as ever totally in the right- how to deal with it I don't really know. Your first Christmas with your first baby is the most wonderful wonderful time but sadly they really will not remember and will probably get a bit over awed with the attention on the day and cry! I think you have to be firm with what you want and need- money doesn't grow on trees and if you need clothes just say it really would help you guys.
Our DS is getting 2 pressies- 1 bigger 1 small and then his stocking will be filled with things he needs like 1000 pairs of socks!! Also Roo I think wrapping old toys of my DD is a fantastic idea- had not thought of that at all- def hitting the loft this weekend! I will give him a stocking so our DD doesn't think father Christmas put him on the naughty list!
Christmas is so fab, I get more excited than when I was a child and thats saying something- unfortunately my DD (aged 3) has an irrational and quite bad fear of Father Christmas tothe point where we will have to leave the pressies in the kitchen so he doesn't have to go in her room- bless her heart.
GB the most important thing is that you enjoy the time with your hubby and your gorgeous little girl- sod everyone else (and of course I mean that in the nicest possible way!!) XXX

The Yummy Mummy Thread

Ok so since last post I have got 3 runs in, all 5KM and after much talking to myself, with trepidation I got on the scales... I've only gone and lost another 2 lbs- YAY!! Only 6 lbs to go and those Miss 60s are mine! Mentioned them to hubby yesterday and his words were 'well don't do it too soon darling- you know I'll tell you if you aren't there yet!!' Cheeky git- in fairness he's right and I'd tell him to if he looked a pratt!
Z- no Christmas parties with work planned yet- hubby's don't take partners and I usually organize mine and not being there not convinced it will happen!! Got a lovely meal planned with our best buds though at a posh restaurant- def going to be getting a little number for that one. My friend we are going with is 12 weeks pregnant with their first so for once its not me with the growing bump- win!
Hope you are all doing good and zumba, running, wii- whatever takes your fancy is still going well X

Thanks ladies... Its not like me really to worry about milestones I just felt at 19 weeks he should be a bit more bothered!! Feeling better hearing from you all and I'll just let him get on with it! Hope everyone and babies are all well? X
