we were told by a peads nurse in a+e to use a didgital under the arm one. the doc always uses the in the ear one,so i dont know if these are better, but they are blooming expensive! Our under the arm one seems pretty accurate, but its a bit of struiggle sometimes getting LO to sit still to have a good reading!

Weaning - when?

Posted: 12/12/2010 at 18:14
do it when you think your baby is ready. Look for the signs, interest in food, can hold and put a piece of food (or spoon0 to mouth, looking for more after mPersoanlly i would definatly wait til after 4months. We started slowly at 5months. I think if you start at 6 months you need to wean faily quickly and I just thought my DD would benefit from a slower weaning process, plus she was showing all the signs.

Its a very persoanl choice, and its good to be as informed as you can. WE had an excellent weaning workshop at our surestart. Maybe yours does similar?

off topic... is it hard to make sausages? Never tried! DD has never had a sausage. Sound like i might be depriving her if everyone else is having them!

Anybody vegetarian?

I was researching tofu for babies, and their is some research to suggest that too much soy might affect hormonal developemnt. No idea about the validity of this or how much too mcuh is, but if you want to research further, this might be a starting point!

Oh no, hadn't heard that! We bf, but did have a tiny bottle of form ula just in case, never thought to check it was veggi! You could look at oat milk, not sure if thus is suitable for newborns though. My sil used it from 6 months. Bf is hard and it is nice to feel you have a back up option. Do ask for support with it if you need it, bf forum on here is great not judgemental or nasty at all xxx

Sausages

Lilic, i didnt say that you didnt care about you childs diet did i?! Just that we have different priorities. Thats ok, we are different people, it would be strange if we were all the same! Im not going to say which is right or wrong becasue there is no such thing. I know you didnt say I was a bad parent, but you did say you were, which I very much doubt.I just didnt like your tone implying that parents who make sausages were not using their time well. It was a simple enough OP without judging others as to whether they make saugages or not! Forgoodness sake, we are arguing about sausages!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All u mummies who make ur own congrats but u have too much time on ur hands....

We all have the same amount of time, we just choose to spend it differently. We have different priorities, all of us! We choose to make our dd's food as we feel diet is important. That doesn't mean you have to, or that either if us are bad parents or that we are spending our time in the wrong way!

A good debate

I think maybe its just about being a bit sensitive to others opinions and thoughts and speaking as though you are talking to a real person rather than just a computer. I do think people use sites like this to release a bit of unvented anger/frustration sometimes, not conciously, its just a safe place to do so.

I do love a good debate, just as long as its not personally offensive!
