Advice for new preemie mum?!

Hi everyone and congrats on the birth of your impatient lo's. Kenny was 7 weeks early, 4lb 4oz and now a perfect 2 1/2 year old. Firstly always go by their corrected age, this was right for kennys development in his 1st year. He soon caught up and walked at 12 months actual age (4 months before his full term friend).
He was always a greedy wee man and loved his milk but sufferred from reflux (threw up from feed to feed) but it didn't seem to bother him, good weight gain and happy. This went away when he was walking thankfully. He also developed an umbilical hernia at 4 weeks which gave us a couple of scares but has went away on it's own and all he has now is a bit of stretched skin that will be operated on to take away before school if it's needed.
I started weaning at 5 months, he loved his nosh.

In the night Garden Birthday Cake...

I got a night garden cake from tesco for my sons 1st birthday about 16 months ago, do they not do them anymore? For his 2nd birthday I made his cake myself and he loved it. Got a teddy bear mould from morrisons and decorated it with butter icing and choc buttons. Try googling cakes, there is loads of ideas and tips if you want to give home baking a bash.

Hi vickic hope your bubba hangs on for a bit longer.

I went into labour at 32+6 and it was off and on for 3 days!! I had 2 steroid shots and my son had no breathing problems at all. When he was born he was whisked over to the baby table for them to check him over. He was in good shape so I got a cuddle for 5 minutes before they took him to SCBU. He spent 4 days in an incubator to keep his temperature up then was moved to the cots in the nursery with an electric blacket. I expressed for him and was fed using a tube for 2 weeks until his sucking reflex kicked in. He came home at 3 weeks, still only weighing 4lb 9oz and was tiny in his pram.

cant believe isobelle is 19 weeks now, where does the time go. Kenny's PDA closed itself at around 5 months, hope isobelle's closes too.

Happy birthday Amelie. Did you cry at some point? I was so proud of my wee man who was also 7 weeks early I was overwhelmed I had a little cry from happiness.

Well done izzy. I'm so happy for you. Your gorgeous girl is the best present ever for Xmas. I hope you all have a lovely day. Can't wait to see photos of her at home.

Breastfeeding and weight gain question

Poor george, I hope he feels better soon. Kenny didn't sleep well at that age either. He was breast fed but I switched to sma at 9 weeks. I was shattered and he was hungry. Bliss premature baby charity has a good website. The publications section is helpful.

Weight Gain for your Premmies

Kenny was born at 33 weeks 4lb 4oz. What were your twins birth weight. At 37 weeks kenny was 19lb 8oz and loved his nosh. I used the annabell karmel recipe book for ideas, you can borrow it from the library. Give healthy snacks in between meals such as banana, raisens, cheese and crackers.
