Droping Naps

Posted: 03/07/2010 at 17:34
I used to hav a routine, but it's all gone out of the window - I think the recent warmer weather has made him more tired & he has been having more frequent, shorter naps. I have been used to 2 hour sleeps & am finding 30 minute naps rather difficult to get used to!

Sorry to be no help on the routine issue, but it's good to know that mine isn't the only lo changing his patterns!

Waking earlier and earlier in morning...!

Posted: 03/07/2010 at 17:30
Hi, I was wondering about this myself! At the mo, I can just about cope with my 4am early morning calls, as I can grab a snooze in the afternoon. I am worried about coping when I go back to work in September - I teach, so won't be able to snooze!! Anyway, I also try not to feed him till nearly 6am but sometimes, he just can't wait. I can't really complain in so far as he usually goes to sleep by 7:30pm and stays asleep until he starts stirring at around 4am. However, I am so tired with all these early starts - there's just no let up!

Any 2011ers?

Hi! Can I join in please? I have a 6 1/2 month old son & will be ttc again in Jan 2011. I had a tricky start with my lo & to be honest, found the newborn stage really difficult, however I now feel I know what to expect & am just so excited at the prospect of having another!!

It'll be great to have a supportive group to go on the journey with - I have found this site so useful & friendly with my last pregnancy & just can't wait to do it all again!

Hello ladies,

I was wondering if I could join in please? My ds is now 6 1/2 months & we intend to ttc his little brother or sister in January 2011, so if you could add me to the list, that'd be fab, thanks!

I'm getting quite excited about getting pregnant again!!

Great to see BFPs too - congratulations!!

Early mornings - sorry for the winge - but what do you do?!!

I am at the end of my tether with these early starts. My little one starts stirring any time from 3am. He is usually wide awake at around 5:30am & I usually feed him by 6am every morning. It is a nightmare as I am so tired. On the other hand, though, this will probably help when I go back to work in September, but I am so tired with these early mornings. Once I've put him down for his sleep, I then get sorted, clean the kitchen etc as once I'm awake, I find it almost impossible to get back to sleep again - regardless of how tired I am.

Reassuring to know I'm not the only one with an early bird!!

feel low, numb and lost

I don't really know what to say except I am feeling the same at the mo. Hubby has been off work with depression since Easter, my little one generally is fab, but I just can't cope if he cries & I can't console him - he head butted me this morning (obviously something he can't help!) & I just felt like I was just the biggest failure ever. Like Dylansmummy says, speak to your gp - expecially if these feelings don't lift. I think my feelings will, but I am keeping an eye on things & will get help if I need to.

However, you are doing a great job - it's such hard work, but so rewarding on the whole. I have lots of friends with babies, but I often feel like everyone else knows better & is doing a far better job than me. You are great, and you are doing so well.

Hope this helps,

Thank you so much for your replies - it's so useful getting other opinions. We have a little time yet, as my son is only just 5 months old, so I will continue the search.

Thank you again,

Advice on high chairs

Hi all, I'm in a bit of a pickle about choosing the right high chair for us & i wondered if any of you have any recommendations or advice on what to steer clear from. My lo will be 6 months when we start to use it. I quite like the Funpod high chair - it seems quite versatile and looks like good value for money. I think I prefer the wooden ones and like the option of removable tray. I just wondered what your thoughts might be.

Thank you in advance,

Hi, Ed usually sleeps through, although he can have nights where he is awake every 2 hours (like last night), but he generally resettles himself without fuss, but often with the help of his dummy. Our routine is roughly as follows;

6am up, dressed & feed
7am-9am sleep
9am-11/11:30am play, feed, play
11/11:30-1/1:30 - sleep
2pm feed, play etc
3:30-5:30pm sleep
5:30 - 6pm play, sing songs (& generally try to keep happy as this is his grumpy time before his bath!)
6pm massage, bath, bottle bed

Ed's often awake any time between 5-6am which means I need to get to bed early, but I prefer early mornings to late nights anyway, so it hasn't been too difficult to cope with.

Hi, Edward has 6oz 4 times a day. He drains each bottle, so we will up this to 7oz from tomorrow after I discussed it with the HV this morning. He is on SMA Stay Down and has Gaviscon with each feed to help with his reflux. He feeds at around 6:30am, 10:30, 2:30 and then 6:30pm.

He will be 12 weeks on Sunday,
