2 minute feeding sessions...aaahhh!!!

Posted: 16/06/2009 at 05:18
if he's puttin on weight ok , he may just be comfort feeding, ie not really hungry!. think by 6 weeks, he should be going 2 hours between feeds at least. have you asked your HV for advice.

Advice re pros and cons of being induced please?

Posted: 16/06/2009 at 05:09
i needed to be induced as had gone over & BP was quite high, the best thing about induction is that you know when you're going to hospital & there's no making a dash for the hospital by car in total agony. my hubby was around & the whole labour was in a hospital, so all help on hand if needed. I just wanted my baby out & for me to be well, so i took their advice & went with the flow, i was very slow, so need the drip & constant monitoring coz of high BP, but it was in my best interests & that of the baby. baby finally delivered after 28 hours by ventouse, i was well, baby well, everything tickety boo. x

Stitches

i had an episiotomy & ventouse delivery, i had had an epidural but it was wearing off a little, i didn't feel anything at all as they do numb you for the cut & stitches, you are cuddling your baby anyway at this point, so you won't be focused on your stitches, i had absolutely no problems with mine at all, & all healed beautifully, try not to worry, you might not need stitches & if you follow the midwife lead on when to push, pant etc, you hopefully won't tear either. what will be, will be, it'll allbe forgotten in a blink once you see your precious new baby. x

Scared

i'd be scared too, but theres nothing you can do about it now. at least you know what to expect this time, ie no surprises, & usually the second birth is easier as cervix has been opened up before. If anything, try to focus on the positive outcome & that new baby you'll have in your arms in no time. the birth is just one day & you'll forget it as soon as its over. best of luck. x

TMI ... PIles...?

i had awful piles after the birth, they were more painful than my stitches!. just get some cream "Anusol" & rub that in, its ok for breastfeeding mums, the hospital gave me it.

epidural???? yes or no?

i'd say don't decide now, if you need or want one, decide at the time, you might sail through your labour & not need the pain relief, it might be so quick & easy that there'll be no time for the epidural, but if its too much pain, takes too long, its always on option you can choose. i personally wanted to try natural, but i was induced, slow labour, high blood pressure, put on the drip, pethidine didn't work, gas & air, tens not helping anymore, so epidural it was - total bliss. But that was me, you will be different. good luck. x

pre school

my little boy (3) started preschool in April, half day only though, at the school where he goes full days are not allowed until 4 1/2 as they feel its too much for the younger kids & can cause issues. can you change to more half days, it may help. x

Bum wiping!!!

Posted: 16/06/2009 at 04:44
my son just started preschool, he's 3 & he couldn't wipe his own bum, they did help him to start with when he called them, but now he just gets on with it himself. he doesn't wipe it all off & theres usually poo stripes left, but he trying & thats brill. try not to worry too much, most kids cannot wipe themselves properly til over 5. just give them some tips, lots of paper, bend over & wipe from behind, they will get there. x
