Help me pack!

Posted: 10/12/2010 at 20:52
We've flown to america twice - 1st time Carrie was 10 months and last time she was 32 months - you can get all the essentials there easily but I always took enough of everything to last the first few days.
The only thing I couldnt get there was the same formula milk the first time we went so I took enough of that to cover the whole trip.
For the plane def take alot of your own food/snacks - when carrie was 10 months the food they had on the plane wasnt really much use - i think i put baby cereal that only needed hot water to mix in the compartments of a milk powder dispenser.
Most airlines give the kids activity packs with colouring stuff in - don't take too many toys with small pieces!!! (jigsaws/fuzzy felts/etc) They are sure to go on the floor under the seats and be tricky to get back!!
Happy holidays!

Anyone giving dummys to santa?

Posted: 10/12/2010 at 20:30
I was planning to do this but - fingers crossed - Carrie's done it herself. I had been telling her that she should give her dummy to santa to take to give to a poor baby who doesnt have one - on a flight to america 3 weeks ago there were kids in the seats behind us - one of them was crying (tired) for quite a long time and Carrie whipped out her dummy and launched it backwards through the seats at speed!! I just looked at her and said "where's it gone" - to which she pointed between the seats and said "through there - oh well - i'll just have to go without".
Touch wood - she's only mentioned it once since and didnt grumble when i fobbed her off.
I can only think she thought the crying kid was a poor baby who needed it more than her.

Dried fruit snacks - unsweetened ones?

Humzingers!!! (dried fruit sticks - nice and soft) - come in boxes of 10 mixed fruit flavours - no added sugar. I think they're about ??????1.89 a box. Great for taking out and about as they're individually wrapped and don't mind being squashed at the bottom of your handbag!

Moving from Bottle to Beaker

Posted: 26/09/2010 at 07:48
Hi,
our DD was off bottles by 1 year - I think I made sure she got the recommended amount of milk through the day by keeping note of how much milk was used in cereal/milk puds - giving her cheese and yog every day for calcium - and then small amounts throughout the day in beakers until she drank more in one go

Hi,
sorry - no suggestions for a new seat - but well done standing your ground!
I just wanted to add to your story that if anyone is having trouble with a shop over a safety issue they should talk to their local trading standards office as they deal with product safety.

Advice needed - Buying dolls!?!!!

Posted: 20/09/2010 at 11:16
We have a Fisher Price one which is soft bodied and a really good size. It was however dressed in pink but the clothes are really easy to take on and off (dd loves doing this) and I'm sure you could buy different dolls clothes. I think it was bought in Asda last Christmas and was no more than ??10.
I'll see if I can find a web link for it

Sorry - may have been too quick off the mark!! Only place I can find it now is on Ebay - they were called My Baby Sweet As Me.
Would def recommend any fisher price in that sort of size (I'm wondering if Asda were getting them in from USA as same co as Walmart)

musical instruments??

Posted: 12/09/2010 at 05:50
Hi,
I've found a few music and movement groups where we live for under 3's but most of the dance schools and a local music school seem to offer proper classes from 3years.
(Your local area Netmums webpage is a good place to find local classes)

I've been looking at these and wondering on and off for a while - never had the money spare though - but would love one. I've looked but never seen any for sale 2nd hand so guessing anyone who has one loves it!
What a brilliant thoughtful friend you have!

Girl's hair!

Posted: 01/06/2010 at 10:13
Hi,
your daughter has gorgeous hair!
My daughter is about the same age and has curly hair but it's not nearly as long. I did get it trimmed a bit a couple of months back and it took the wispy bits away - the hairdresser said there was still alot of baby hair and it's better to get that cut away - don't know how true that is but it certainly took out alot of the wispines and made it less tangly.
