Total violation of privacy

Posted: 17/12/2010 at 06:11
This is completely unacceptable. Most of the posts on this website have sensitive issues in them, and I for one wouldn't go around sharing that kind of thing without a little discretion. I would rather have a username than my real name please. This website was a valuable source of information and support for me, but it won't be for much longer. I have only just found out that the same stands for my You and Your Wedding account. I am (unfortunately) going to cancel and delete both accounts and lose the information and friendly advice that I used these forums for. Well done Baby expert, you are driving everyone away.

Just went to edit my account and what does it say "Private Information" HA! How about "information that is private until we decide to post it everywhere" ?

SPD?

Posted: 10/12/2010 at 12:00
Ok, I have had this in the past when I WASN'T pregnant and a chiropractor and physio sorted it for me and taught me things that would help it myself if I felt it returning. I have used it through pregnancy to give myself a little sort-out if I feel it coming back worse (as well as being careful about the way I sit and lie etc)

Here's the disclaimer. I am not a doctor, midwife, physio or chiropractor. All I know is that this works for me on my own SPD and lower back pain, which was caused by my pelvis being out of balance and therefore an uneven distribution of weight on my joints.

Stand up as straight as you can just now. Put a hand on either hip. Feel your hipbones (if you can) Is one higher than the other? My left was always higher than my right. Had been for about 15 years. Then i tried this and they were even. My back was less sore, as was my SPD.

I lie face down on the bed (obviously with pillows under my chest and legs so that there is room for bump) and bend the affected leg at the knee (mine is the right one, as it's the lower side of my pelvis) wannanother, try your left one first. If it doesn't help then do your right and see.

So, lying there, face down, bend knee, other leg straight. Gently push the thigh of the bent leg into the bed. Hold thsi for a few seconds (maybe 5) but keep the rest of your body nice and relaxed but in the same position. Then relax everything.
Do this three times. you should feel a slight shift in your joints, but not severe pain. When you stand back up again, it should feel better. mine does anyway.

Sorry if this isn't helpful, but it might be worth a try.

I was told at my antenatal classes last night that if your waters break while you are in ASDA they give you a year's supply of nappies free! How good is that! I know where I'm shopping from now on!

weight in pregnancy

It's fine. I have lost a bit of weight too, not much but a wee bit. But baby is still growing huge. They'll take what they need from you. I'm about 33 weeks now, and although I'm bigger bump-wise, my actual body (all the fat bits on my legs, bum and arms) are smaller because baby has taken them. You'll be ok. If you are really worried phone your midwife, but it sounds ok to me

Is anyone else sick of?

Totally agree. My LO isn't even here yet, but I've had alook and all of the stuff around us that's fun to do is either miles away or very expensive or both! Zoo? Sealife Centre? Various parks? Shows? I'm not made of money

Buses and prams

While I completely agree with all comments that bus drivers treat buggy and wheelchair users badly and that bus services are terrible in general, like sardines and everyone is so rude and horrible...

Is it an option to get a baby-sling type thing for use ONLY when you need to get a bus somewhere? it would save you all the hassle of trying to fold down buggies on your own, and would mean that you are less liekly to get left out in the rain or snow while 3 or 4 buses drive past you. Might be worth considering. That's why me and OH have bought a conneta carrier, so that if I have to go out and a about on the buses, I have less hassle.

Legal Guardians ~what would you do?

I think godparents are generally legal guardians as well, but don't think that they HAVE to be. It just tends to work out that way. Maybe ask your sister about it?

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen on breastfeeding

Also... I mentioned this to husband-mine and he pointed out - what is he supposed to do if I die in childbirth? Would he be jailed for not BFing our baby for 6 months?

I agree, I wish she'd have thought before she said that. There are so many women who can't BF for one reason or another and feel guilty about it anyway, let alone having people making comments like that. While I agree that it's the best option if you can and think everyone should give it a go, I don't think that FF should be illegal. That's just ridiculous.
