Air filled pram tyres, stopping punctures?

Posted: 26/08/2011 at 17:53
If you have replaced the inner tube and it's still deflating you probably have a small thorn or something stuck in the tyre. It's worth taking the tyre off and having a good feel inside it as your eyes can miss small thorns very easily. I have a Maxi Cosi Mura 3 and do a lot of dog walking off road so get quite a few punctures! I use some slime I got from my local bike shop and it's been brilliant, I put quite a bit in but it really does seal up small holes very well.

Easy first finger foods.

Broccoli is great, so is cauliflower.

Also battons of carrot, butternut squash, sweet potato, courgette, parsnip, normal potato wedges. I tend to roast most of Erin's veggies as she much prefers the flavour. 15 mins in some olive oil for little finger size battons is about right - soft without being mushy!

Green beans are actually chewy for babies, you have to cook them for a long time until they are soft enough to eat, and then they may not taste of much!

Have you read the blw book by Gill Rapley? It's very good and suggests lots of ideas for first foods.

Car seat advice please!! (Maxicosi Cabriofix)

We have the easy fix base for the Cabriofix and it's been great. It can be fixed in with isofix points or a seatbelt, so we use the seatbelt in the back seat. It has green and red colour coded points on it so you know when they are green that it's in properly. It's very secure and we have a mirror so we can see Erin, and it's fine - now she's older she can recognise me in the mirror too and grins at me!

It's not a good idea to have your baby in the front seat unless you have no choice - it's extremely distracting! It's bad enough with a mirror as you do find yourself watching them quite a bit, but in the front seat it would be a nightmare!

October Holidays....

Hi there,

The Canary Islands are still lovely and warm in October and really family friendly... Cyprus is fab and still pretty warm in October, the Greek Islands also should still be ok.

We went to mainland Spain last October, hired a villa and it was lovely really warm still but it can be a bit hit and miss in October.

weaning and water?

Sorry - double post!

weaning and water?

If you offer water with her meals you shouldn't have any problems with your milk supply. I started blw weaning with Erin at five and a half months and she has a few sips of water from a cup at every meal. It's not enough to fill her up, just helps wash her food down. We are still breastfeeding also at seven and a half months. x

Inductions - do they always work?

Posted: 20/02/2011 at 15:48
I was induced at 40+13 and the first lot of gel worked for me, and I had Erin in my arms 12 hours later. I had an epidural but no intervention and I was very pleased with how it went!

I hope it all goes well for you x

Book Recommendation please

We also have What to expect in the first year and it's very good. I also find websites like Baby Centre a fantastic source of information.

Diarrhoea - how long does it usually last, and how do you deal with nights?

Hiya hon,

Have they tested a sample to make sure it's not bacterial or anything? Erin had diarrhea for two and a half weeks and the first thing my doc did was get a sample tested to make sure it wasn't bacterial, which would have to be treated with antibiotics.

I think hers was some sort of virus, it cleared up on it's own in the end but took a while, and a whole lot of nappies! She was going about 15 times a day at one point!

We didn't have any problems overnight though.

Hope she gets better soon, it's not nice when our little ones are poorly.
