Elective c-section due to cyst

Posted: 13/04/2012 at 03:08
Hi Ladies,
Well my midwife agrees that the bartholins has significantly increased in size since the last 'inspection' and has referred me back to the lead obs at the maternity unit (appointment on the 25th April) for him to make the final call on straight to section or allow for a trial at a natural delivery. Because my DS was forceps i never got to feel what it was like to delivery on my own so it's all new yet again - if i do go naturally i'll prob need assistance as the barts will impeed somewhat. Cant wait to meets my new little bubs now - 5 weeks till my due date and counting x 1000000000

Elective c-section due to cyst

thank you ladies for replying - My GP put me on penacillin for near 8 weeks to try and get rid of the cyst but the tablets didn't touch it unfortunately and since i've stopped the medication it's flared up some what when the lead obs seen me on the maternity unit it wasn't really an issue as the cyst was 'average to small' but now it's a whole different ball game and i'd class the cyst as being 'big and ugly' haha. I have an appoitment with my midwife this afternoon so will talk through my concerns with her again. I had a forceps delivery with my DS back in Oct 09 so i know i can delivery naturally (although i had to have some assistance) but i would be so disappointed to get 18 hours into labour to find out the cyst is stopping stretching and needing a section,
again thank you for replying ladies, my husband is getting fed up of me moaning about my cyst at home - i talk it about it that much i'm closing to giving it a name and christening it haha!,

Elective c-section due to cyst

Hi Ladies,
I'm due on the 22nd May (sooooo close now!) since week 4 i've had a bartholins cyst which over the past week has tripled in size after researching on the net (slapped wrist as i know you shouldn't) all articles i've read say that natural birth with a bartholins cyst is next to impossible as the swollen gland restricts the stretching required during labour. I've already seen the lead obs at my local maternity unit who wants me to go naturally but i'd hate to get x amount of hours into labour to find out i'd need assistance by way of a c-section when i could have avoided it all and opted for a section from the get go.
What do you ladies think? should i try natural labour or opt for a section,

Hi Lily,
no personal experiance of pregnancy diabetes but it sounds like you are being looked after and given all the info possible, my bro-in-law has type 1 diabetes and he lives a perfectly normal life (in fact he's a policeman so super active)
