being induced monday

Posted: 30/01/2011 at 17:12
Hopefully, you won't need the syntocinon at all if your contractions get underway with a pessary (I think I had sanother sweep plus the pessary together) but if you do, don't forget that pethidine is always an option. I agree with the other ladies that they can only administer an epidural before you reach 7cm. Please don't worry too much though, just ride with it and see how you feel and what you need at the time.

Good luck!! x

being induced monday

Hey Parma, just replied to you on another thread.

I'm guessing they will start you with a pessary to get things moving and this is fine. I'll be honest and say that for me, the contractions came hard and fast once I was on the syntocinon drip and if I had been advised correctly, I would have had an epidural. Remember, there are no prizes whatsoever for a drug-free birth so you ask for what you need.

Good luck on Monday!!

Oh Parma,

Sorry to hear that the sweep didn't work for you. Have they offered you another one?

With regard to food, I drove over to my mom's this evening especially to collect a cake she made!! I've lost the plot!!

Hi ladies, think I'm joining you unless baby shoots out in the next hour!! I'm 40 wks today and have been having lots of Braxton Hicks for the last three days but nothing. Really don't want to be induced with syntocinon as I was with my daughter and had the worst labour and birth.

How many weeks/days were you when you had your first sweep? I have a m/w appointment at 40+4 and she said we would discuss a sweep, hoping she means dicuss and then do it!! It's hard looking after a toddler and being this pregnant. Also, I haven't stopped eating this week and the baby & I will be big as houses if I go to 42 weeks.

Good luck ladies.

Walk in sleeping bags?

Posted: 25/10/2010 at 11:58
Does anyone know where I can can get a 2.5 tog walk-in sleeping bag - basically a sleeping bag with arms and legs (and feet)? I bought one in the Mothercare sale last year but DD has outgrown it and it was warmer than the regular 2.5 tog bag as the arms were covered too.

Anyone who knows of one wins a bag of cola cubes!!

Mins is more my FIL rather than my MIL but she is sometimes (possibly) guilty by association!!

Always knew that FIL was an @rse but he has got worse since DD was born a year ago. He is also one of those people who insists on taking her out of the room (he cannot 'share' her), treats her like a performing seal and talks about her like she's a gadget. He makes snide remarks about the way we bring her up and tells DH how often he thinks they should see her, he believes our world should revolve around them

Prior to DD being born, we would go on holiday with my family but PIL never invited us away with them. Now we have DD, they expect us to go on holiday with them. I'm sorry, were we not interesting when there was just 2 of us????

I took DD away for 4 weeks with my family this year and intend to extend the vacation by another 2 weeks next year, roll on next summer - I need to escape!!!

We have this seat and it fits well into our car. Not impressed with the recline either bur DD does sleep happily in it.

Teething and coughing at night?

Posted: 23/08/2010 at 06:08
Hey Slippers, great to hear from you, how are you and Fred? The HV suggested putting a pillow under LO's mattress at one end but she sleeps all over the cot bed so I would have to chase her round all night!! And yes, second baby due in January - can't wait!! x

Hi Mummychop - what are dros pills? And could you check the spelling of chamilla please as I can't find it on the net but it sounds very interesting.

Teething and coughing at night?

My LO has managed to reach her first birthday toothfree but it seems she may finally be teething.

When teething, has anyone else's LO coughed only st night and hardly at all during the day?

This is my 2nd too and I'm in Sutton - we're all very local!!

I would defo recommend you first time mums sign up to your NHS antenatal classes. My LO is just turning one and out of the 9 of us who attended, 8 of us are still in very regular contact, think we made friends for life.
