Avoid pre-eclampsia second time around

Pre- eclampsia, or pregnancy–induced high blood pressure, can be a big problem for mum-to-be and baby alike.

If you had pre-eclampsia in a first pregnancy, you'll want to do everything you can to avoid it in subsequent pregnancies.

Dietary management may help prevent it. Have a look at the food wheel for general dietary advice.

Plus, there is evidence that women with pre-eclampsia are deficient in vitamins C and E, so eat plenty of vegetables and a couple of pieces of fruit a day, including avocados.

The pre-eclampsia risk also seems to be higher if you are low on Omega-3 fats, so small-sized oily fish (e.g. sardines) a couple of times a week and a daily tablespoon of flax oil may be of benefit.
