Bring on labour

HAVING SEX

Thought to work because semen contains prostaglandins (also contained in the pessary often used in an induction to soften the cervix ready for labour). Sex can also trigger the release of the hormone oxytocin (given by drip sometimes during induction to make the womb contract). It's safe to have sex in late pregnancy provided you do not suffer from placenta praevia or vaginal bleeding.
