Hi Ladies,

Hope you and your bumps are ok?

A quick (and probably very daft) question, but one that I've only just thought about.......but what do you wear to go to hospital when you're in labour?

Thanks,

I'm planning on wearing my maternity tracksuit bottoms (which I live in at the moment as they're so comfy!), a t shirt and a fleece! And probably flip flops as I hate trying to put socks on at the moment!! I think I'll probably change into my nightie quite soon after arriving at the hospital if I'm there to stay as then it's easier for being examined etc.

Whatever is comfy to be honest. Or whatever you are wearing at the time - im sure the midwives have seen everything.

I ended up in a big t shirt when i gave birth to dd. (that same t shirt is in my bag as i type ) however u may not want lots of layers if you are in a birthing pool.

So just think comfy, think practical dont get a nightie thats too long and trust me i dont show myself to world but as i was giving birth it didn't really matter what i was wearing.

hi hun, think it will depend where i am when i go into labour but last time i got bathed and dressed as i went into labour in the middle of the night so i just put on a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a comfy top. i changed into my nightie not long after i arrived at hospital.xxx

As the others have said something comfortable and easy to get off for examinations.

You will not want anything to warm if your hospital is as hot as mine so make sure you wear layers if cold out so you can strip down if the room is hot.

Like the others, whatever Im wearing at the time!

I currently only have one skirt with bump band that fits which is decent to wear out the house. Havent decided whether its worth buying any more bottoms!

Im shopping this wk for some last bits for labour bag. I hope to get an voersized t-shirt /nighty equivalent to wear during labour. At my antenatal alst week the mw said you probably wont want to wear anything in the pool - hmmm Im sure I wont be going totally naked lol! She did suggest wearing a sports bra or similar if we wanted to wear something.

Me too, just whatever I'm wearing at the time, will be taking in trackie bottoms, vest and hoodie to change into afterwards but it's all stuff I could wear before if needs be.

These days I'm living in black leggings and a selection of tunic style patterned tops with a long cardie and flip flops, so it will probably be something along those lines... have got away so far with a size 14 and haven't bought any maternity clothes, now I've got a real bee in my bonnet about getting to the end of my pregnancy without buying any!
