So devastated for my sisters

Hi,

Its been a terrible day today for my family. My older sister who is 19 weeks pregnant woke up this morning and found that her waters had broken. She's in hospital now and they have said there is nothing they can do to stop her going into labour and without any fluid the baby will die in the next couple of days. They have offered to induce her but she feels like she will be killing the baby quicker whereas at the minute she can still feel it moving and kicking. I feel totally heart broken for her.

My younger sister's daughter is 4 1/2 and was born with only one kidney that was not connected to her bladder. When she was born they did an oporation to create a stoma so that she wore a bag on her side that collected urine. 2 weeks ago she had an operation to connect the bladder and kidney. It seemed to be going well but she has gone back into hospital tonight with a raging infection and suspected kidney failure. She has been in kidney failure before and her surgoen has said that unless there is a huge impprovement in the last next 2 days she will need a kidney transplant and have to be placed on the donor list. I am very close to her as she lived with me till she was nearly 1 and I was her Mum's birthing partner and saw her come into the world.

To top it off my mum and dad are on holiday and trying to get home and my sister and neice are in different hospitals an hour or so apart.

I'm just praying that I don't go into labour in the middle of the night! I am quite happy to sit it out for a couple of weeks and let the focus be on my sisters. I just wish that there was something that I can do but I can't drive and am pretty useless in my elephantine state.

All your prayers, positive thoughts or whatever you believe would be very much appreciated.

Hi Faithie, thinking of you and your sister and niece. I'm sure they both know you are thinking of them so don't feel guilty for not being with them. One of the ladies at nct lost her waters very early on and was ordered to bed rest but her pg carried on. I hope that's possible for your sister too. Let us know how they get on. Loads of hugs,

Hi hun,

I'm so very sorry to hear what you and your family are going through!

I too had my waters break at 19 weeks in my last pregnancy, I gave birth to a little boy, there are no words to explain the feeling of loosing a baby but although I still have hard days things do get easier!

As for your niece, I'll hold her in my prayers and hope she gets better soon!

Oh my gosh that's awful hun! Isn't there anything they can do to replenish her waters? Or any other way of feeding it when the amniotic fluid has gone? What devastating news, it brought tears to my eyes...

How long is the transplant wait for your niece? Hope she gets one soon
