Hi Ladies

At last I can finally announce the birth of Heidi Brandon. She was due on 27th February but arrived on 5th March. For me this was baby number 2, Alfie my little boy was born at 37+6 so I assumed this little lady would be early too, but it wasn't to be, I was 40+6.

On Friday night I went to bed as normal, I had spent all day baking because I was so bored and fed up. I woke up at around 5am Saturday with acid indigestion. I took some tablets and went to the loo, where I started with sickness and diorrhea which gave me dreadful stomach cramps. I blamed it on the spicy fajitas we'd had for tea and just went back into the bedroom. I decided to run a bath and it was at this point my hubby woke up. I explained that I had sickness and diorrhea and it was giving me contraction like pains so I was going to go get in the bath, he asked if it was contractions making me sick or a stomach bug. I told him that I wasn't realy sure as my waters hadn't gone or anything. The cramps at this point were 15 mins apart and weren't overly bad, they just were making me feel sick. At around 6, they had gone from being every 15 mins to every 5 and I told hubby to get his backside out of bed and asked him to get his mum round (she only lives next door) to look after Alfie as he was wide awake but I couldn't bear him near me.

I went downstairs and called the hospital who advised me to have breakfast and then to go in. I knew that I didn't have that much time as I already had a lot of pressure in my bum and was starting to feel pushing urges. The fact that I was walking around and staying upright was probably what was encouraging things to move so fast.

At 7am we set off to the hospital, I can't remember the journey as the contractions were constant by now, they did ease but then another would start. I know that the parking ticket we got on way in said we arrived at 7:20. James put me in a wheelchair and dashed to labour ward.

Midwife put me in a room and said she needed to examine me. She said I was 7cm dilated, as she said it I got a contraction and went to 8cm. She also said my waters were about to go but didn't get to finish the sentence before they went She did all heart rates etc. and then said I needed to move to another room where they had gas and air as I couldn't have it in room I was in. I couldn't get off the bed though. Anyway, in finish James practically cariied me off bed and threw me in a wheelchair to get me next door so I could have gas and air. As soon as I got in there I started to push and midwife said she could feel her hair. I got her head nearly ourt and midwife told me to stop pushing as she was working herself out so she told me to do deep breaths, 3 deep breaths and my little girl was out and laid straight onto my chest weighing a whopping 8lb 11oz! (I'd not even had time to take my clothes off!!!) the time was 8.01. I delivered Placenta at 8.11.

Labour time was from start to end, 3 hours and I spent 30 mins in hospital befpre I had here. 9 mins in stage 2 labour!!! I was amazed how quickly it all happened. I did go into shock though, it was nothing bad, I just couldn't stop shaking but that disappeared after about an hour or so. Also, I kept vomiting so midwife gave me an injection to stop me from being sick.

Because it was my 2nd baby, I did get afterpains, which felt like bad period cramps but paracetemol sorted them out and they have stopped altogether now, they lasted just over 24 hours.

It really was a great labour and yes it hurt as all labour does, but I didn't have any pain relief and managed just fine. I did have a little nick, but it was just the skin that had torn so no need for stitches. We were able to leave hospital that afternoon aswell. Alfie was so excited when we arrived home with his new baby sister.

Today she is 2 days old and my milk has come through so I'm in a little bit of pain with that as I am bottle feeding so can't express but it's nothing too bad. Hurt a lot earlier when Alfie banged his head against my rock hard boob. I just wish they'd stay this big and firm forever though

Good luck to everyone still waiting and I hope your labours are as easy as mine!!

Congrats on your new arrival.

Your BS is very similar to mine way better than the 1st time round. I got after pains too for 2 days or so I did not like these. I also liked my hard boobs but not the pain at 1 point i was almost showering in my bra cos they were so heavy & giving me so much grief. It seemed to take a lot longer for the milk to dry up than when I had DD. Almost 3 weeks later there was still a bit of leakage.
