Well it all started with my show on Wednesday morning; was pinky tinged red with wiping. I got all excited but nothing else happened labour wise till Friday. I had a dodgy headache that wouldnt shift then Wednesday night, well 4am Thursday I woke up with a migraine and couldn't lift head off pillow. Now I got checked on the Monday of that week and everything was fine. So rang midwife and instead of my gp appointment that pm she immeditely came to my home to see me. She arrived at 10am. Checked my bp which was high and she said she would need to take my notes and wee sample with her. She couldn't find babies hb straight away so i was scared. My wee was fine but still wanted to run checks at hospital - everything was fine thank god. There had been discussions about inducing me. Normal labour still on...or so I thought!

Ok so Friday pm i noticed jelly like stuff in my knickers so popped in a liner. I was waiting for my treacle sponge and custard at mam and dads and felt movement like I had peed myself - went to check and liner was clear but damp...thought I was being paranoid. Saturday morning I woke up with a fuzzy head again and lots of jelly stuff in my knickers; wiped and got it everywhere and was attached to loo with it! OH was calling it something very bloke like, typical. This continued all pm then on night (wearing period pad) I felt movement 4x over space of hour. I decided that it was time to ring hospital. Went to get checked. Yep waters had gone and because it started Friday they wanted me back first thing Sunday to induce me. We got home around 1.30 am so left me 5 hours sleep after I shaved legs etc.

I woke at 6 and could not settle again. We; mam, me and OH got to hospital at just after 8.

8.30 - I was examined and found to be 2cm already without knowing! My hindwaters hadnt gone so she broke those and told me I was 3cm! I cried at the internal as she had to pull my cervix forward.

9.30 - I was put on the drip to speed things up; tried gas and air around 10.30\11 and hated it; made me really cockly! So plodded along without. Midwife upped my drip from 2-4ml then straight to 12ml; queue the pain!

11.00 - I was given diamorphine that is where things went blank. I was spaced out but took edge off the contractions for a bit. Babies heartbeat dropped really low after every contraction. Consultant was called by this point my contractions were coming thick and fast. Internal told me i was 8cm. Consultant wanted to do a blood test on baby.

Queue madness; 2 male consultants, 1 female, my midwife and 2 others then gave me an internal where i was told i was 9cm. 5 attempts later and me bleeding heavily and in agony they got a sample! I was given a scan (unknown to me at time the reason why).

Around 12 I was told I needed an emergency c-section. I felt relief after spinal block but so scared! OH was brilliant. Olivia Grace was born at 1.53. She cried once then they worked on her for 5mins...longest period ever but thankfully battered and bruised she is fine. Had to have bloods taken for a rash but ok.

She isnt latching on yet but not giving up yet! She had to be given formula in a syringe at 3.

Reason for scan was because she had gone back to lying not head down xx

Hi hun

Honestly, I think you handled everything so amazingly, considering you being spaced out, first time labour and the general drama going on with so many people rushing around you.

Olivia Grace is beautiful! Congratulations again!

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter, even if she wasn't making it easy on you! Don't those midwives telling us that first time babies rarely turn around!

Hope you are both recovering well!

Congratulations on the birth of your little lady hun!

Just a quick question? Did they diagnose anything with regards to the headaches? I've been getting quite painful headaches above my eyes and my bp is raised although within the normal range (i'm usually very low) but no protein in wee. They don't seem concerned so was just wondering if it transpired to anything in your case?

You look so lovely in your fb pictures! I'm keeping my hair and tan done just in case of labour  Hopefully i'll look as fresh as you just after birth!
