little bit worried about it - will it hurt even more then a normal birth? if so i hope it's sure and sweet!!

I'm a bit down about it as i really thought he'd be here by now and i'd be a mummy but it feels like i've been pregnant forever and feelsd like everyone is getting bored of me being pregnant - but thinking that maybe i want him out too!!

been getting painful braxton hicks for the last few weeks now so will be quite nice to say good bye to them! and am soooooo big and uncomfortable all the time i can't wait to cuddle him but really want my body back as well

looks like my little Jan boy will actually be a feb boy instead so will move over to Feb forum and make even more new friends!

Good luck! I won't lie, as I was induced with my son and they do say it is more painful than natural birth as it is artificial and the contractions come on quicker so you do not have the chance to build up natural painkillers etc, That being said that - That is just what they say, and everyones pain threshold is different!

I personally couldnt say as I have never experienced a natural birth yet!

I am due today and so will probably end up a feb baby too, so shall be joining you in the DIF/BIF forums... probably flicker between there and BIJ when my little missy gets here.
Midwife is supposed to be coming out today to do me a sweep, so fingers crossed my cervix is favourable lol.

Good luck for Monday and just think you will soon have your baby here x

nooo both of you stay in BIJ! or at leeast use both :P x

You must def stay with the jan ladies!

I had the drip with my son and it does make the contractions a little more painful than natural ones! But hey that is what they have pain relief for! Lol!!

Hope your little boy makes his way out before mOnday!!

thanks ladies - think i'm just being a wuss!

i know how lucky i am, but like everyone i am so over bring pregnant - although i know in a few weeks i'll be missing it!

my left ankle is huge today as well and feeling sorry for myself, although if i'm honest i wouldn't change it for the world!

lucretia - how did your sweep go?

The sweep seemed to go well thanks

She said babies head is super low and she could feel it with her fingers, that I am 2cm dilated and 80% effaced. So she said I am favourable and it was a 'good sweep'... But not sure how much that means really. Have had more back ache and a few shooting pains since, but no show or anything thus far.

They are going to do me another one on Tuesday if I am still here.. really hoping she will come over the weekend though as it will be so much easier rather than having to call my OH home from work etc... fingers crossed for something happening in next 24 hours

Plan for tonight, bounce on my ball like mad and then get my OH to do his share lol (ugh!)

I am also crossing my fingers for you that baby comes before the induction, but if not - at least you know in a matter of days he will be in your arms! xx

Hey Parma, just replied to you on another thread.

I'm guessing they will start you with a pessary to get things moving and this is fine. I'll be honest and say that for me, the contractions came hard and fast once I was on the syntocinon drip and if I had been advised correctly, I would have had an epidural. Remember, there are no prizes whatsoever for a drug-free birth so you ask for what you need.

Good luck on Monday!!

First;y, could I just say you may not even need the drip; there are several stages to inductions and there will be a gap between each stage to give it a chance to work on its own (if there isnt, insist on having one). With my first I had the pessary and waters broken and that was enough to kick things off on their own. With my second I had my waters broken and likewise contractions started on their own (I was being rigged up for the drip at the time so they had to stop as I didnt need it anymore).

Secondly, lots of walking up and down stairs (incl, sideways) helps also.

Think positive.

thanks for the well wishes ladies

lucretia - your lucky if your husband still wants to come near you - mine keeps grumbling that theres 3 people involved and won't touch me, it's normally the other way round in our relationship so haveto say i'm finding it quite amusing, that he makes excuses every time i sugest it! good luck for your 2nd sweep on tuesday - if you still need it by then!

Andipink & jules22uk - thanks for the advice do you know if i do end up with the drip if i can have the epidural at that point or if i have to wait? how many centimeters can i go before it's too late as i would n't want to miss my chance to have one (not likely as will be screaming for one when i walk in the door)! xx

Just wanted to say good luck tomo hon! Sods law, I think I may be in very early labour today haha! Had pains waking me up last night which are continuing today, but no pattern to them, and not the requisite 5 mins between lasting a min each so I'm just waiting to see whats occurring tomorrow! Hopefully both of us will have our babies soon! Xx

They were going to put the epidural in at the same time and my understanding is this is how it should always happen. If I recall correctly from my NCT classes 2 years ago, I don't think they can do epidurals once you are more than 7cm dilated but to be honest by this point I think you would know about it via contractions at which point you wouldnt have a drip anyway because you are probably pretty close to delivering - I think you are on to the gas and air at that point anyway (assuming you can have it).

it does depend on the hospital policy, with mine as I was 42 weeks, then they didnt give me time between the 'methods' so to speak as they just wanted to get baby out. I had the pessarys and was contracting however not enough for their liking so the next morning they broke my waters and administered the drip at the same time. They didn't offer me a choice in the matter which angers me looking back, but I never really knew any different!

Again tho, I suppose this would differ depending on who/where induces you! Not sure what is the last point you can have an epidural but just thought I would say that for me and others I know who have been induced, the drip was kept in throughout and taken out after delivery - I think they took mine out the next morning. Though obviously the syntocinon drip would be stopped when the baby is here - I had a drip to keep me hydrated etc as well as you are not allowed to eat or drink,You can have an epidural from the start though... Not sure how far I was when I asked for one with my son, but mine failed anyway and I still had complete feeling

The gas and air you can have throughout, but they take it off you (or at least they did with me) when you come to push, as you need to feel contractions/put your energy in to that etc.

It really is not that bad though - Millions of women are induced and go on to have many more babies, I was - and did it all with just gas and air after the epidural did not work, and yet I couldn't wait to have another! I know some of the DIJ ladies were induced and had no pain relief what so ever! And the option of pain relief is always there too, so try not to worry and just think that you will soon be holding your little man

Good luck for tomorrow Hun. It will all be fine try not to worry!

The epidural I think is normally given from 3-4cms and 7cms dilated.
It's nit obv 100% guaranteed you'll have drip it will be totally dependent on how the induction is going I would imagine! I wasn't induced with my son but as he pood inside they had to bring it on quicker rather than letting it carry on as normal!!
I had the epidural and it was amazing but with my little lady it was all natural and I have healed and recovered so much quicker!!

You will know what you want when you are there so go with the flow and relax into it!

Enjoy your last night just you and hubby. Can't wait for your ba!!

Hopefully, you won't need the syntocinon at all if your contractions get underway with a pessary (I think I had sanother sweep plus the pessary together) but if you do, don't forget that pethidine is always an option. I agree with the other ladies that they can only administer an epidural before you reach 7cm. Please don't worry too much though, just ride with it and see how you feel and what you need at the time.

Good luck!! x
