Question about coming off microgynon - Trying for a baby

Hi, I'm new to this site & am hoping to start ttc in the new year. I am a little confused though about how I work out my cycle after I come off the pill. I was wondering if any of you might be able to help me. Basically I don't know how to work out when my cycle starts following my withdrawal bleed. Do I have to wait until I have my first "normal" period? Sorry if this is a bit of a daft question!

Welcome to the site - you'll find it really useful and friendly. I have found no question is too daft on here!!

I am in the same position as you and I don't know the answer to this, so would also like some advice. I've been on the pill for about 12 years, so have forgotten what 'real' periods are like and how to work them out!

It will be a bit trial and error unfortunately. Some are really luck and settle straight into a regular cycle and others have months of cycles that are all over the place. You won't really be able to know where you fall until you have a couple of cycles, in the meantime you could temp chart or us ov sticks to find out when you are oving. Good luck xx

Thank you so much for the reply. I did think that it would be a bit tricky at the start. Still, it's very exciting to think that this time next year we might have a family

So far I've found this site a great source of information and look forward to being able to share experiences.

Hi d7b, i was also on microgynon and when I came off it in May, my cycles fell into 28 days so was really regular and ov'd the following month. Hopefully you will be the same, but I know a lot of people are different when coming off the pill - welcome to the site and good luck for your BFP hun xx

Hi

I was on Microgynon too and stopped taking it in Sep. Only had 3 days withdrawl bleed (very light) then it was 37 days till 1st period which was again light and lasted 4 days, then next period came only 18 days later. I'm now on cycle day 21 and have no idea when af will arrive this month, hopefully it won't.

Hi and welcome girls! I came off microgynon at the beginnging of july and so far my cycles have been 40, 54 and 41, there's just no telling how your body will react, Good luck xxx

Hi ya hun
I came off Microgynon in April and my first cycle was 23 days and its gradually crept up to 30 days ish for the last 4 cycles so think its getting there.
I was really surprised as i had been on it for 12 years so thought it wold take a long whie t get outta my system!!
Have to say having "normal" periods again was a helluva shock though no more nice little 3 day periods for me and the pmt!!!
LOL
Getting used to them now though,lol.
My Doc toldmeit was fine to start trying as soon asi finished the pill,he said that having a non pill period just makes it easier to date the pregnancy.
Be aware though that when you come off the pill you might feel a bit crappy till your first period apparantly its just ya hormones trying to figure whats going on,hopefully you'll feel fine though
