Can anyone recommend a good book on trying to concieve for dh??

My dh is of the opinion it will happen when it happens and is not showing much interest in the rest of the process. He honestly has no idea. I'm on CD2, have had nightmare period pains and he said to me "so... could you be pregnant now?" I wouldn't mind but whenever I try and talk about those things to explain what is going on, he just clams up so I am left with a man with no knowledge about anything!! He is so desperate to be a dad.... I just don't get it???? :\?

Maybe I should just buy him a GCSE biology book and go back to basics!!

Thanks x

Well, I thought the Zita West book is really good and not too woman-only. There is a section on men and it is a good all-round book on all the things that can affect ttc. It also has the biology bits too.

Good luck with educating him!

Takers had the same sort of attitude. It was getting to the point that if he said to me one more time "Calm down, I know its going to happen, just a matter of when" then I may have screamed

He was just so calm about it all whilst I was crying and ranting how we were never going to have a baby.

Its true though and looking back probably not a bad attitude to have, quite relaxed and Takers didn't seem that interested in the technical stuff. He knew about the short time gap to catch the egg cos I told him etc but I think he just knew we'd get there eventually and thats what mattered

As long as you know roughly when you're ovulating and grab Mr Dappy for a few nights of passion then it might be an idea if he doesn't know the technical stuff as he might feel under pressure.

Good luck! xx

Hiya! Yeah the Zita West book is good but I do agree with SB, my dh is very much in the same frame of mind that it'll happen when it happens and tbh as long as he can perform when needed!!!!

Hi dappytart,

I have the Dr Miriam Stoppard Book 'new pregnancy and birth' book.

My OH has read sections of it after lots of reminders from me.

Agree with the others though our OH's are very laid back, but know deep down they must be excited to be Dad's. They wouldn't out up with us if they wren't.

Rx

P.S. The book is very good if you don't already have one.

My DH said it only takes one time to get pregnant, this was about a year ago and if you ask him now he grunttsss as this is our 2nd year ttc and his attitude has changed now, if only it was that easy!
I bought Zita West conception and fertility and it's great, covers everthing and answers all those questions that everone asks. Also bought ZW Plan to get pregnant, that's brill 2, good luck trying

Hi guys, thanks for the replies.
I know you are right, I don't want him to get as uptight as me, I think I just want him to understand the process a little and understand why bd has to be done at a certain time, etc etc
We have been trying since August but only 'properly' since December so the laid back approach hasn't done us much good so far! Maybe we just need to communicate a bit more but it is so hard sometimes to explain how desperately you want something! We do have a really strong relationship otherwise so maybe it's just me!

I'm going to look into the one's you have recommended - maybe they will help me too!!

Thanks everyone xxx
